I have had some intermittent disconnects this morning. My Mode of operation I had set to umts preferred. The reason I did this was if 3G goes then at least it can carry on with GPRS, no EDGE in our area. I have now reset the Mode to UMTS Only & it is staying connected. If 3G goes I will manually select GPRS if I need it.

Otherwise so far so good.

Was month-end the cause of the past couple of days problems?

voda rubbish once again at month end...

yeah me to, vodacom unusuable today, actually since late yesterday been rubbish!! no throughput, disconnects error 619's, you name it!!

I'm using mtn sim in E220 and it's absolutely brilliant as it was 3 weeks ago when voda was rubbish as well...

what gives? I was led to believe that voda were the forerunners in 3G technology but mtn has been the consistent product over the last month or so while voda has been a lemon!!

Eish, getting really frustrating!!!

Hennopspark, Centurion = consistent "connection reset" and "server not found" errors - two days in a row now. This is really frustrating. I cannot get a single page loaded without getting errors.

Sure it's a download issue, maybe a DNS problem?

- You can check by running 'nslookup' in a DOS box.
- At the '>' prompt type the URL you're trying to access. If it comes back with an IP, then DNS is fine.
- While you've got the IP,- type that into your browser and see if it's any better.

- What theoughput are you getting to NY on speedtest.net.

Lastly, for those of us geographically challenged, where exactly is Muldersdrif? :)

Muldersdrift = North of Johannesburg, west of Midrand.

Ah, yes, close to the dam. I now remember, tx!

I'm currently on a LAN connected PC (i.e. not on 3G) and I'm getting sporadic DNS errors.

Some of the symptoms reported here sounds like it could be caused by DNS. Can anyone verify?

Sounds possible. I get timeouts before the ip is resolved by the browser. When it gets through the speed is ok'ish.

I had to refresh speedtest.net twice before it loaded properly. Then I got 462/309 to NY.

Hit "Submit Reply" and got an error. Had use to back button and try again.
