Enough is enough.... this morning I am back to server resets, international pages not loading and the DNS is sub-optimal... and no, I am not going to run any more speed tests, lookups or anything else... I spend more time trying to establish where the problems are then I spend using the service. Where is the magical management system that Vodacom crows about... why does it not reflect these problems in a way that should enable Vodacom to fix the issues? Why must I use my data bundle to resolve a problem that is clearly Vodacoms - and get no recompense

I pay for a premium service and get delivered one that is often barely useable... for me there has not been any stability since February of this year... first it was slow speeds that I was given any number of excuses for and for the last month the number of problems have escalated to the extent that the network is effectively unuseable for lengthy periods. At month end I spend hours sorting out an account that bears no relation to the factual usage of the service and then get a credit passed the following month.

In any country other than South Africa, Vodacom would be out of the data market, pressure groups would be formed to fight for the rights of users, class actions would be brought and government legislators would be all over them.... in SA we just accept.

Yeah internet in our area also bad this morning. The modem didnt even pick up that 3G existed and tried to connect via normal gprs but nothing happened. My dad also complains about a lot of call drops in our area.

Saturday he tried to call me 3 times before he actually got through to me.

Wtf?!

This morning is terrible (I have never had these bad speeds on HSDPA ever ... well, not even on iBurst!)

Can't even read complete threads on the forum, my mail isn't downloading from GMail.

I am balancing my TyTN on a window latch to get a better (86%) signal, so Vodacom, if it falls off there, I am sending you the bill for a replacement

3G network is down as well in Dunkeld. Using base station on Jan Smuts Avenue close to Bompas road. Can only connect via GPRS :(

Brakpan South (Minnebron-2)
1. Terrible throughput (Local+International)
2. DNS errors
3. Packet loss

If it carries on like this for much longer, I am going to try and force VC to cancel my 5G account, and see if MTN is any better.

Got a "Good" UMTS signal (as normal) however speeds both international an local would easily be surpassed by a Hayes SmartModem (circa 1981)

I can ONLY connect! Nothing else works!

I receive 281 bytes of data at the start of the session and then the server dies...

My location is Centurion (Highveld)

Centurion Issues

Centurion down today - worked fine this morning but currently I cannot connect either. When connecting, I get a IP address but connect do much after this. Common VodaCom - second time in 1 week!!!

Data Helpdesk also reports intermittent problems...what is going on and when can we have it back please?

Yep

same in Bloemfontein.

I wonder if Anyone from Vodacom actually reads this thread and gives a damn.

I am now surfing on my MTN sim as VC is not working at all.

Something very weird, I posted earlier on the problem but now can't see my post.

There's a big Telkom break, affecting a large number of users in the Jhb, Midrand, Pta area.

We've tried to load balance as much as possible but towers that are down will not be easy to get back up until the problem is fixed on Telkom's side.

Apparently sabotage.....

Hobbit, I suspect your problem is not the same as the guys up north (where a cable break is causing havoc). Rather there is a local fault and I saw a job or der going 11am to fix.

Can you check if it's better now?

This morning was bad. Got the equivalent of a 619 on my phone. Couldn't authenticate at all.

I haven't had any server resets in the last half hour but I am still getting some "server not found" errors and complex international pages continue to fail... even after a number of refreshes

Oh... and a new network behavior for me, despite all the other problems.... the network just hangs and I have to disconnect and reconnect when it runs OK again... not the sort of thing that makes you comfortable in the middle of a banking transaction...

// Have to refresh pages repeatedly to get it to load, especially international
