Vodacom service problems explained (23 September 2011)

Sad to see a once great company fail so miserably this year.

They we're always more expensive, but it was worth it.

Agree with all the others, its time to move.
 
The service was down from the 21st. How can they say it was only down between 8-9? Ag nee wat!

My Blackberry contract expires soon. The BIS on Vodacom is terrible. If this is 3G, I do not want to experience EDGE. I will rather go for the big C. They also have their share of problems, but heck at least they try to sort it out.

After 12 years I am really beginning to doubt Vodacom's service.
 
Nothing new here this week, They were down about Half an Hour on 2G services a couple nights ago, for both local data and BlackBerry.
 
same in Pretoria east 3 of our phones can make calls but not receive and no sms's
 
SO this might explain why I was unable to get connected on EDGE whilst in the boondocks yesterday...

So glad 8.ta saved the day...
 
Yep, Already applied for my CellC contract, just waiting for my number to port then that 's the end of vodacom in my life :)
If they still suck I might even go yellow... but trying to avoid that.

Nope, Vodacom still not working

So from 8AM to 10AM I couldn't get any connection to Vodacom's network on an iPhone.

Vodacom proudly push out the press release at 10AM that all is solved.

Six hours later, myself and lots of people on Twitter (look at twitter.com/vodacom111) can't receive calls or SMS messages. Nada.

Vodacom is starting to resemble Home Affairs.
 
I have 2 VODACOM devices next too each other this morning, iPhone 4 and Galaxy TAB. iPhone NO SERVICE, but the TAB had full service??? Left home at 6:45am full signal and 3G on iPhone, 5min later 1 bar and Edge, 5min after that NO SERVICE until +-9am :(

I haven't been able to receive phone calls and sms for nearly 12 hours now. Service definitely not completely up and running. I'm in Cape Town. Not acceptable Vodacom.
 
Vodacom have outdated equipment - rather change everything over the weekend all the "HLR" cos seriously this isn't an excuse coming from a provider that generates billions. Spend your money wisely not safe up on capital. Happy to report I ported over but do carry a spare phone "R100" in case the network decides to bomb out.

I feel sorry for those people that were stuck during a breakdown or in crisis to get hold of an ambulance cos 112 is a joke. I have faster response to call 10111 the operator picks up immediately.

House breakinn are the worst.

When a handset can't make normal calls (like the subs affected in this case), it can still make emergency calls.
 
Wtf is wrong with vodacom today?? Bis going on and off constantly and even when its on its not loading up pages and giving the error to contact the service provider WTF this is f'ing irritating

Some issues at their data centre, I believe. They rolled back some changes made and are busy restoring services. Will post if any more news.

BTW, a number of networks/countries are affected.

Thanks Jannie sorry for the out burst but it was extremely irritating because I needed to compare prices from a website before I purchased an item and it would not allow me to load the website. Its going smoothly now thanks
