I nearly packed up laughing today. The first time I received a sales call from VOX telecom, I could not hear the person on the other end of the line at all. The second time, when the person called back, I managed to actually hear the sales person... When the sales person asked whether I had an existing ADSL line and whether I needed a VOIP product to go with it.. I replied... T H E R E A S O N W H Y I W O U L D N E V ER C O N S I D E R U S I N G V O X T E L E C O M F O R M Y B U S I N E S S I S P R E C I S E L Y T H E R E A S O N W H Y I A M H EA R I N G M Y S E L F T A L K I N G B A C K A T M E.

No seriously, VOIP Call Quality in SA sucks. It is so poor that anyone who relied upon in a serious way for their business is putting their business at risk. Since we make a lot of overseas calls, we have tried many providers, including Downetworks, and others. In our experience the most reliable and useable one is Skype. The best solution is to install Asterisk and install the SkypeForAsterisk plugin..

Skype works well most of the time but not when you are on a network sharing bandwidth with the rest of the office.

We have our own VoIP Asterisk Managed backbone but break through Vox. I must actually check the international quality.
