Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Same here. Vox web Africa and afrihost all dead. I think eishkom has struck some main router in the area that is not allowing internet traffic through it.

Hi,
Please PM me your account details if you are still experiencing issues connecting :)

its taken 6 days on a 4meg line to download 2 gigs..... 6 days?? i hope im not going to have to look for another ISP because i was enjoying the performance from this account until 6 days ago

Maybe there arent seeds on your linux distros.
Have you tried some http downloads or streaming to test?

I've noticed p2p being shaped during the day, but returned to normal after 5pm.

The only reason i came to capped was i am sick of being shaped... just got a call by a tech saying "we not allowed to shape on these accounts" but its ridiculous that these accounts should get shaped at all?

Completely agree.

I think it has something to do with the load on the IPC. They also have a clause in their T's&C's that covers shaping on an "unshaped" product.

Oh well, I've already cancelled this month because of the capping issue that doesn't look like it will be ever fixed.

thing is you cancel.... go to who? from what i have seen there are no real ISP's that anyone can brag about? Axxess - seeing complaints, Afrihost, left them for Vox, Ti - wont touch them with high pings in the evening, only ISP i havnt tried is Bitco but cannot afford the setup cost.

sigh....

Can anybody confirm if the Samsung promotion (1Million Meg's with VOX) VOX package performs just as well (as what i've been reading somewhat before the bad weather messed everybody's ADSL lines up) as the Capped VOX Products?

Im planning on purchasing a new Samsung TV this weekend, and it comes with that promotion, and since i already have a 4Meg with TI, im obviously going to be making use of that promotion to the fullest - Seeing as i am also looking to change IPS's in the near future.

So, like i asked, can anybody confirm the performance on the promotional package of VOX? If its as good as the other products?

Those packages are Vox Fat Pipe data.

Any idea on the performance of those?

According to the site, its saying that Fat Pipe data is unshaped?

i think i may have just found the fact that, yes they are unshaped.....but it can be shaped on an unshaped package.....

I dont think in your case its shaping, as much as it might just be throttling? A lot of ISP's are not too keen on P2P as far as i know. Its the main reason i switched to NNTP.

A torrent I downloaded last night went full speed. Since all the major loadshedding last week, the account has been performing well for me.

I haven't had any shaping issues on this account.
It runs flatout for me all day.

"6. FAT PIPE

6.2. Subscribers can request cap adjustments should they reach their cap.
6.3. The supplier reserves the right to shape usage.
6.4. The subscriber can roll over unused data for the duration of the contract. On
cancellation, any unused data will be forfeited.
6.5. The subscriber will be billed for usage per MB at the out of bundle rate."
