Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Pings were quite variable today, especially in-game. 9ms then 59ms then 30 and back to 9.

i don't know what software they're running, but it's not great.

@cvanwie, with regards to my previous post #2576. Does Vox throttle traffic to the Sony Playstation Network?

I did another PS4 network test this morning and I got 4.5 Mpbs download speed, much better than my 1.5 Mpbs speed of last night, but still not optimal for my 10 Mbps line. As I mentioned before all other internet services appears fine and doing a speednet test locally and to an overseas point shows above 8Mpbs download speed.

No we don't.

Hiya, I did a test on this using FNB Uncapped and Web Africa on 4mb. FNB gave me 2.7mb down, Web Africa gave me 1.6 down. AH and CW were also between 1.5 and 1.9. When I downloaded actual update files on both lines, ALL ISP's that I tested only downloaded the updates at 174 kbps. I wouldn't rely on that PS4 Speedtest too much.

holy ****

scroll RIGHT to see when I activated another ISP.

Chris, your thoughts on this please?

That's not cool at all.

I have two thoughts...

1) Use your IS account on the router, then PPPoE on your machine to the Vox account, run the same test just in reverse.
2) I wouldn't be surprised if IS is prioritising the ICMP traffic to "appear" better.

I made a change, try the ping again.

How about a traceroute from IS and ours?

Hi Chris

I have some people coming over tonight but I will most definitely get this to you when I have a chance.

My buds and i all switched to VOX.
worked flawlessly up until 2/3 weeks ago.

now we cant game (party chat) from our xbox one's.
we moved to our prev ISP's and worked flawlessly.

i dont think its an IS backbone issue

Cant even connect to a BF4 server....yet load up my MWeb account and it's whistling at 33ms.

Sigh.

I moved away from Axxess 2 days ago. My 10Mb line constantly buffering on HD streams. Did I make a mistake with VOX? Here we go again?

Yup, these sorts of statements are certainly not cool as it's not true whatsoever.

Also implies the jitter is normal and the stable latency is the abnormal experience, so probably not the best response there...

ok done and holy **** its looking horrid
Then the claim relating to IS can be shown to be incorrect. I can't assist or make any statements about the rest of the results in here though. Only wanted to help clear that accusation up. Hope the tests help cvanwie pinpoint your problem and fix it for you...

Cool thanks for the help. Sleep well

Open pingplotter options, select engine, switch to http or tcp over port 80 (as an example). Run the same tests. You'll need winpcap installed to do this...

Nice one. Noted.

Have had Pingplotter for a couple of years but never knew about using that option.

@techhead

I've got exactly the same problem as you, Vox is all over the place from about 6pm. Mweb and WebAfrica are fine.
