Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Got any 10-20Gb capped packages there Vox? I'm willing to move since my current ISP is a bit wonky.

What's your budget?

R50?

Surplus to your needs would be a fatpipe lite 25gig + bolt-on = R148... Nice to have though. Line speed?

Doesn't matter, I'm willing to pay for a real capped connection that gives full line speed at all times.

For 20gb you shouldn't pay more than R50 and get just that, proper capped, unshaped data.

Fatpipe lite would more than cater for your needs but at R89 for 25gig it's actually quite expensive in relation to what's available on the market these days. That it can be bundled with bolt-on for an extra R59 is a bonus but not at your usage levels.

Chris or anyone else from Vox...

There's an interesting (interesting as in good) anomaly in your pricing if you manage a customer's ADSL/VDSL line. Your consumer pricing here (https://www.voxtelecom.co.za/adsl-lines) lists the price for an up-to-10Mbps ADSL line as R425 per month and an up-to-20Mbps VDSL is listed as R410 per month, i.e. the faster line is actually cheaper. I was thinking of getting an up-to-10Mbps line but my area (Cape Town CBD) is shown as "rolling out VDSL" on Telkom's colour-coded area map so if the Vox pricing is correct and the VDSL rollout has reached my address then going for the VDSL option seems a bit of a no-brainer.

Firstly, could you please confirm that the ADSL and VDSL pricing on the Vox web site is correct.

Secondly, if I were to go this route then can I do it all through you and have you check with Telkom as to whether VDSL is now available at my address or do I need to deal with Telkom directly and determine my VDSL status before applying to you?

Any XBOX One people still having trouble with Party Chat? I made a change yesterday that should have fixed it.

Streaming HD streams.

Youtube seems to be fine with HD content, but Kodi buffers alot

Streaming what in Kodi though? Saying Kodi is buffering is like saying the internet is buffering, unless you're talking about local content but that would have nothing to do with the internet.

Trying to stream tv shows or movies using the Genesis video add-on.

There's a big difference between Kodi and YouTube and why it's tough for us. YouTube is an application which can be recognized on the network whereas Kodi is really a front end to a bunch of different kind of services out on the net. Some which use MPEG, others which use HTTP GET, and which has end points all over the world instead of an organised service like YouTube.

For those using Kodi, have you guys checked Popcorn Time? Why Kodi over Popcorn Time?

Kodi is just so much better :) popcorn time makes use of p2p. If you wanna go the p2p method then rather Pulsar over popcorn time. It's essentially the same thing just that Pulsar is integrated into Kodi.

Friday and yesterday, anything downloading from Apple (presumably from/via/through Akamai) is not coming at line speed. Both app downloads from the iTunes store, and direct downloads (e.g. OS X 10.10.5 combo updater) from the Apple support pages very slow - ranging from 30kB/s to 130kB/s on a 6Mb/s line.

May be worth having a look at, cvanwie

Otherwise Vox performing excellently :)
