Vox Telecom Fatpipe

So looking at my accounts this morning I see the product is listed as 150gb. Referring to the 100gb fatpipe capped account I bought on special 2 months ago.

Mine is also listed as 150GB, but the allocation is still 100GB. Rollover and everything is still working fine, so no worries on that front.

In other news, looks like the app problems were likely an API error yesterday. Logged in today, could view all my ADSL account info, and the app is now saving my login details.

I had the 300GB Fat Pipe special which is now showing up as 400GB Fat Pipe. Anyone else notice this?

Suspect something's going on / a product is going to be launched/changed. Went to the website now to see if anything had changed and it's down.

Or it could just be a coincidence :)

I find month end their website is a bit glitchy.

Would be nice if those new uncapped accounts were being loaded. The suspense is killing me...

Just a glitch it seems. Site loaded briefly and nothing had changed. Back down now, they must just be having problems.

Cancelled last month and they didn't bill me for October, but when I logged on to the portal this morning, I had 65GB available? Is this normal? :erm:

Change was either made after cap was allocated or its an error. New product class might of been added which shifted all products 1 tier higher due to developer oversight and its going to be corrected before the new product is released.

Interesting.
The app is working but it looses my login info when the session expires.

The session expires? Oo - I guess I haven't encountered that yet, as the app always just lost the info before. Why would the session expire in a mobile app? That's really silly.

The Vox website is trash. I tried to order my 100GB. After entering all my details and confirm that everything is Ok i get and error. Something something ADSL-FP-100GB core note found. Happened a lot. Went back to Webafrica.

When did you try this? Today perhaps? Seems they have been restructuring their capped offerings today which might explain the issues you experiencing.

An hour ago(9:30am). Couldn't wait because I didn't have internet. Wanted to give Vox a try.

cvanwie,

I have a technical question about how the unlimited bolt-on works with Fat Pipe (Lite). Maybe I made a mistake starting a new thread (here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/767840-Vox-Fatpipe-Lite-Bolt-on-technical-question) because I think you didn't see it and you are probably the only one who can answer.

You probably don't need to read the thread, it's mostly me getting confused and still being confused. Essentially I'm trying to understand when data is billed against the allowances.

Since I will be mostly streaming I am trying to understand whether there is any danger that, if I start a stream (maybe over a VPN but probably not) some time before 18:00 (say 17:50) and leave it running until maybe 20:00, that the Vox systems somehow registers that stream's data as belonging to the in-hours Fat Pipe Lite 25GB allowance and when I stop the stream at 20:00 it will somehow have a timestamp of 17:50 associated with the stream's data and so will book all the data against the day-time allowance rather than the bolt-on.

Could you please explain how the attribution of data usage works (sampled every few minutes? associated with the time specific network connection was established? associated with time that the specific network connection was broken down? monitored in real time at a packet level?). I don't really need a detailed explanation, just enough to make me comfortable that I understand any issues that might occur around the Mon-Fri 18:00 switch-over time. Thanks.

- Julian

Wonderfully written question.

Data is sampled in real time (up to 90 seconds delayed), then parsed after the fact up to 15 minutes later for presentation on "dashboards".

Thanks for the wonderful question, I'm sure others will benefit from this as well.

Regards,
Chris
