Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Congestion? Is that why you guys marketed your unshaped fat pipe so aggressively with all those specials one after the other when your network wouldn't handle it? That's really pathetic. Changes my perception of VOX entirely. The latency between 41.193.164.85 and 41.193.164.86 is truly abysmal to the point that I can't even use the account anymore and have fallen back onto my old telkom account while I pay a fortune for fat pipe which hasn't worked properly for weeks. What happened to all of those graphs Chris used to paste showing all the available margin? I suppose he must have taken those with him when he left? The fact that you even have the nerve to ask us for traceroutes in light of this chaos speaks volumes about your NOC presence / insights into your own network. The network is choking and has been for a while... the "trying to secure extra IPC from Telkom" is a tune which we all know you could bank on forever... why no remote details as to when this capacity might become available? Looks like it's time to jump ship

Hate to admit it but it looks like I cant expect to do anything during the evenings on VOX anymore...50Kb/s FTP on a 20Mb/s line.
Look how long it took Afrihost/Axxess to get their IPC in order, I can't go months like this every evening.

Totally agree about the Tracert's...why must we always go out of our way to prove they have no capacity left...all they have to do is click refresh on some of their graphs in the next board meeting.

Mine was better:

ADSL Check Results
Ports Available: true
ADSL Support : Yes
Max Speed : 40960 kbps

Congratulations, your ADSL line support speeds up to 40960 kbps

Didn't return my current speed or the fact it is active but at least it din't say it's impossible like Telkom did.

Sorry but I win:

I have a 20meg ADSL line;)

Hm what is going on?

My latency on WoW, is like 600ms xD? I cannot even play on it. Where it use to be 160ms. Something weird is happening.

Testing other ISP's and it working fine, hmmm...

Well said!!!! Looks like Vox is Gevoxed.

Dear Vox, why no throughput between 00:00 - 06:00 am? Couldnt even download a 284Mb file.

As I said in the other Vox thread, we all asked cautiously and warned them when they ran all their specials and Friday Frenzy deals about the IPC capacity and they said we should not worry... Thanks Vox for not listening, but jumping ship won't help, because as soon as we all do that the other ISP also start getting IPC capacity issues.

Well just jump ship to a internet solutions based ISP if you are concerned about potential capacity issues, if I recall correctly Internet Solutions have the largest network in the country and that leaves Webafrica and Crystal Web as options.

Out of interest, if Vox knew they were running low on capacity, why not put any new specials on hold until further notice.

It's not as if they only found out on the day of announcing the issue, that they have problems. They knew well in advance, so should have held back on those specials.

I'm looking to sign up to a data package with them as an addon to my AH account, but just thought from a business perspective you would freeze certain things to avoid issues.

You got to feel sorry for the clients old and new, as despite saying they having an issue with capacity, it's a bad situation to be in. The same happened on the AH account, and like with anything else you purchase, you expect your monies worth. So hopefully from a customer point of view it gets sorted soon :)

My line speed currently at 50%, not sure if it's VOX or my physical line. Waiting for Telkom.

I'm sure they were closely monitoring the network and would have increased the capacity sometime this quarter but the sudden unexpected influx of people testing Netflix, which they then wanted to compare to Showmax, pushed the network past the limit.

I personally have not felt any impact of the network strain, everything from P2P to streaming and browsing works as it did for the last 2 years.

Drifter, keep in mind Vox is currently experiencing capacity issues.

I realize that, but I still think it's my actual line itself. Like Soul Assassin, I had no issues when other regions were experiencing outages, but, that being said, no throughput between 00:00 - 06:00 am? Couldnt even download a 284Mb file in the 6 hours. Before it would take 5 mins anytime of the day.

Has to be something to do with the lightning strike you mentioned close to you, us living so close to each other we should have the same experience, only thing different is the exchanges we connect to, I did almost 18GB last night between 00:00 - 06:00 average speed of 1.1MB/s

Think so. My router is also syncing slower every day. Yesterday it was at 9.4 today at 8.1.
