Has anyone come across a VPN service that works on a TP Link "Modem Router"?

well the most popular protocols like IPSec, OpenVPN and Wireguard need some sort of hardware accel to perform well enough for everyday use, what hardware does your tp-link device have?

Expecting those things to work on a cheap router is asking a lot. If you can get it to work, you'll likely have poor performance.
I have done this once before and to get somewhat acceptable performance I needed as much CPU as I could throw at it.

Slightly off subject but vaguely related - I'm also wanting to set-up my VPN on our router just to watch Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. No gaming but must have really good wi-fi. We have a 100/10 fibre line.

Suggested routers are RT-AC68U or RT-AC88U. Could anyone make a recommendation as to which would be preferable please and whether it would perform OK or buffer? I know nothing about this sort of thing and don't want to waste +R3 500 on one only to find movies buffering.
