Vumatel - Fibre ISP Choices

Hi All
Fibre cable outside my door but cant wrap myself around the initial cost (R1700 + R999 + Router).
So doesn't anybody think that Afrihost, Axxess & Webafrica deals are any good.
I am happy now with 20mb/s and 200GB FUP.

It's worth that payment. Seriously. But I went with crystal web and I'd recommend you do the same. Especially if their intro offers are still going.

Hi. So Crystal Web which is around R679 but have to pay the R2700 initial cost vs Webafrica which is R799 and they cover that cost.

I am not sure how WA fared in recent user ratings, but CW has been featuring fairly well. When I eventually get fibre, they'll be the go-to ISP for me.

Why not go with Cool ideas then and just pay the installation?

So i see Vox and CISP at R749 and R799 and they cover connection fee.
New ISP Web Connection also offering R549.
All 20mb/s uncapped, claimed unshaped and no FUP.

I'd also consider CISP, I'm with them now and am loving the service. No sign of any shaping or throttling and the only downtime I've had was cause by power outages. You will still have to pay the R1710 direct to vumatel, but you can spread that over upto 6 months. Also, keep in mind that if you go for an ISP that turns out to be rubbish, you will have to pay back the cost of activation and the free installation, so they will hold that over you as a way to make you stay.

Doesn't vox cover connection fee?
You also need to add the model, i am looking for a high end modem, atleast dual band AC router

All reviews mixed, but seems like Afrihost and Axxess are usually close to the top.

When will people realize that there is a massive difference between adsl and fibre. Especially when it comes to performance and usage.

200gb cap on adsl per month is manageable, as most people won't come close, however on fibre 200gb goes in no time at all.

if you are a gamer stay away from a 200gb cap.
if you are a streamer stay away from a 200gb cap.

In fact, stay away from any ISP that puts a cap on fibre data, as there should be no reason to shape/throttle/manage your connection with fibre, unless the ISP is ripping you off by not providing proper service. Period.

On VUMA there are no IPC costs, so they can't use that as an excuse for giving a cap, no reason to throttle your account. Shaping is used as an excuse by an ISP for not properly providing capacity for its customer base.

Rather stop looking at the gimmick and look at the facts. The ones that offer to cover the VUMA install fees, take away your choice to move with a months notice, they limit your connectivity and your data usage. They are the ones to stay away from.

As mentioned in this page before, CISP and Crytal Web is good, i have also heard that cell c is also very good.

I wanted a month to month contract. Therefore , there was a R999 connection fee.
I signed up for basic uncapped 20/2 @R749 per month.

The router is a mikrotik haplite.
Wifi is 2.4 and 5 GHz.
