DO NOT USE Telkom Internet if you are worried about this. They are just farking A-holes for not putting a system in place or a trip switch function there where customers can opt into a auto cut should they exceed a specified amount of bandwidth. Telkom is abusing it's customers again.

It is abusing them by not allowing cheaper bandwidth and it is also abusing them by not allowing them to opt in to a chosen threshold of the subscriber's choice. Telkom will have to develop such a system because no where on the planet will you find such a **** of a company!

Lol. You have my vote on that ;)

If you are new to the forum you should know that the original intent with uncapped local was to have flatrated local internet access without caps after your international bandwidth gets capped. Telkom abused the loose wording from ICASA's watered down regulations to simply allow users to go over prepaid bundle caps and now charges them per GB they use above and beyond what they buy.

They might as well just give users passwords and usernames and tell them upfront, here you go little sheep, use as much as you like with no "cap". We will charge you later per GB.

I cannot believe ICASA is this weak, but they are. A bunch of incompetent ****ing *******s!

Telkom is ripping South Africans a new one and the governent is cashing in with a smile whilst it does so. We saw this **** coming from far away. Feel free to hunt down the posts from the discussions around the regulations.

Telkom should be broken up into smaller competing telecoms companies. South Africa doesn't need Telkom. The name should be banned from being used in commercial activities for as long as South Africa is still around. I spit on you Telkom! I spit on you! YOU SUCK!!!!!

My objection is not that they bill for the excess, but that they bill at R25.50 per gig, when local SAIX bandwisth is available (retail) at R10 per gig. If they charged at R10/gb for the excess I wouldn't complain, but R25.50 is a rip-off.

My ISP charges R19/gb which being expensive, is easier for me since I don't use 1000GB per month and I only have one payment to make. The cheapest I have seen is R8/GB in a R80/10GB package.

Bad day?

I am a TelkomInternet subscriber, because after everything, it is still the cheapest option. Paying for 3GB and getting 6GB and add on another 30GB local? All for the very expensive price of 3GB. I know they are a lot more expensive than the other ISPs, but if you take the above in consideration, they are the cheapest.

I fully support a threshold to limit costs, but here I agree with Ant. It was never the intention of icasa to allow the charging of this. (But then again, perhaps some people at icasa got a nice all-expenses-paid-olympic-game-holiday for writing these regulations...

lol @ R 2432.00 bill guy, its not his fault for downloading that 100gigs and accidentally slipping over his allocated bandwith.

Sheez I know telkom suck but dont be ridiculous...
