Weak iPhone 5 demand has Apple cut LCD panel orders

iPhone5 not selling well? Perhaps backlash for Apple's litigational douchery of late?

Last week they were making cheaper iPhones. Now they're halving orders. How about I'll wait for official news before buying into every sensationalist report that comes out? Apple has always lowered parts orders in the New Year btw.

As much as I dislike apple I must admit this is just sensationalism.

A company reduces production after the holiday season??!?! Say it isn't so!

This quarter would be great timing for Samsung to launch the Galaxy S4 :)

Will be interesting when apple release their next results. I predict biggest ever quarter

Lol you guys are funny.

The article says that Apple have halved what they originally ordered. Ie. They do not feel they will sell as many phones as expected. If it was also expected then why wait till AFTER the holiday season to cancel orders, that doesn't make sense...

To cancel 65 million screens would make it seem like a drastic cut. Either way, Apple is feeling the pressure, there's even news of them releasing a new phone around June which is very close to the GS4 rumoured release date...

I think we'll see more phones more often from Apple, it's inevitable.

I can understand reducing production of a tablet/laptop/etc after the holiday season, but a phone. Why would phone orders be linked to the holiday season? People buy phones at any time. If anything, it would be linked to the post launch bliss.

i think i should go for the 4s. this iphone 5 is beginning to sound like a dud.

if any freaking outlets had stock of the phone i'd believe this......

This report is a rumour, nothing more; from the same geniuses who insisted Apple would HAVE TO make a cheaper iPhone, right up until the time Apple had to pour scorn on it. Such reports have always swirled around:

Even if they were experiencing a weakening of sales, they would not take the route of releasing more iPhone flavours at cut prices; it just is not how they operate.

My brother in law has lost Bluetooth connection to all his equiplement...
Apple says he must contact the suppliers for a fix...
Not conforming to standarsds will do that to you....

he's swapping to Samsung...

Maybe they want to skip iPhone 5s and jump straight to iPhone 6 to join the 5" market. :-P

5" market?

And make it even longer? Perhaps they will take their que from this parody video (below).

Weaker than expected sales, if true, would actually be good news for Apple fans because it will force Apple to include a bit more bang in the next few product releases. Companies are generally reluctant to alter the formula too much if they are in the midst of record sales because they fear screwing up the magic sauce which is driving sales. A little bit of pain would be good for Apple in the long run.

Your post actually proves a point I made in another thread some time back about teens being a fickle market and a huge risk for Apple to perceive as their future client base...
The only problem is that, what he posted is an opinion of a few teenagers and it is oposted by the forum's biggest WP fanboy.
