Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Anyone else have Streaming issues ? I specifically came over to WA since I heard they were the best with Twitch streaming. Unfortunately I cannot even stream on medium quality without it buffering every 2 mins. Youtube struggles to stream at 720 p.

I'm streaming twitch at the moment without any issues, and was also streaming some at around 5PM. YouTube has also been ok today, however, the past few days have seen some issues with both those services - Twitch wasn't too happy last night, that being said, tried using my capped Afrihost account which was even worse.

What streaming are you having issues with?

Youtube works better when you use the html5 player instead of the flash player.

All streaming. Will change my Youtube to use the HTML5 player when I get home tonight.

I wonder whether WebAfrica will be doing 50TB after hour data next month as well? If it will become a common thing - in essence uncapped between midnight and 6AM.

No promo going forward but there are some good package changes coming so I'm sure it will keep you smiling :D

Does your streaming work on other ISP test accounts?

If all streaming is an issue, have you double checked that the issue is not on your side?

How is your device/pc that does the streaming connected to the ADSL router? Wireless or wired?
Sometimes the wireless is the cause of the issue, and using a cable fixes that.

Wired, was previously on Afrihost which also had issues with Live streaming. When I switched over in September all streaming worked flawlessly though. Might have to do a port reset.

It's not your fault dude

If I want to transfer my 4MB line to WA, I'm being asked to pay R250 up front. However, they say this process could take 3 weeks. Will I get refunded (or credited) the money pro-rata for the timeframe where the line was technically still with Telkom?

I don't want to pay Telkom for my ADSL line in October as well as WebAfrica for my line in October. The amount of money lost there would only be regained after 6 months of "saving" money by having my line with WA.

Hi Splice,

Have you taken this up with our support team? If not PM me your account details and I will take a look.

Just wanna say thanks for the great service. Getting good speed on my internet. i.e. Not too much contention. No complaints yet! :)

Effective 1st October? :D

Cheaper prices or more after hours data could be great.

So what is the set up with DL+ from tomorrow?

Thanks

Yes, it's effective from the 1st of October :D You should have received the notification that all capped customers will all receive double their download plus data allocation permanently so no promo :D

So if you were on a 15+15gb account it will change to 15+30gb for free!

Hmm, that's pretty cool. Not as great as unlimited or a super high amount although I'm not complaining! :D

Don't transfer your line to them (or any ISP). Saving the few bucks isn't worth the headache when there's a fault on the line

We only start billing you from the day your line goes live with us no advance billing and this will of course be pro-rata billing.

Telkom should also credit you from the time you line is moved over to us. Sorry for the misinformation and let me know via PM who you spoke to so I can feedback to him/her.

Thanks for the reply

So for those of us on the MyBB, we go back to pre-promo arrangements?
