Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Been a new client since December 1st. Home capped.

PERFECT product and service.

Zero twitch streaming issues on live or archived videos. No youtube problems. No gaming problems. No mumble or VOIP program problems.

Full speed downloading whenever I want something...

Bliss!

Look. If you can schedule most of that for midnight, business will work great for you.

Web Africa's Home and Business uncapped accounts work on day time downloading thresholds. The more you download during the day, the more you get shaped. Downloads from 00:00 to 06:00 don't count.

On Business you should be able to get at least 250GBs done during the day before dropping a level though.

Scheduling for after hours is not an issue if it means the line will run properly it just may become necessary to download during the day depending on what might be required at the time, I assume they use a star rating on the account based on overall usage and shape accordingly, how is the shaping applied, 25% then 30% and so on? How is streaming on the business uncapped account to places like Netflix for example?

I been on their capped 200gb+400gb package. R599 per month, from 1st December.

400gb being 12am-6am data.

Very happy with account so far.

That 400gb is actually on promo for the month of December and is basically unlimited.

Even at 400gb if you prepared to schedule your downloads this is simply the best value package on the market at the moment.

Netflix will always run in HD.

Ok so far I have been dissapointed in the performance on the 2meg uncapped business. Youtube buffers at 360p and pings are over 100ms.

Capped account at web africa has none of there issues?

but looks like other isps have the same prob
and telkoms busy with maintenance,so i hope its that ,and not WA

but maby after the maintenance things will be even better :)

Something is wrong then.

It should be perfect.

Check that you don't have any back ground downloads going.

Does that pick up at the router or only your PC/

ie, what about WiFi?

This is my gaming rig nothing on it that will sue bandwith but steam right now, wifi is off. speedtest.net gives 1.5Mbps result so think it may be telkom related...

SNR Margin (dB): 19.6 12.0
Attenuation (dB): 23.0 15.0
Output Power (dBm): 5.3 8.2
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 10304 1052

Line stats look good.

You're using a 2Meg account on a 4Meg line?

I got no explanation for my questions below either. WA & Telkom cannot fix my service.

Hi Mujeeb Brey

I lost your last email that said my ticket was fixed.

Telkom say they fixed my ADSL service, but it is far from good.

Apart from slow speed, at times the line has not started and stayed connected. So it is not stable.

Telkom technicians have renewed many physical connections on my line and monitored the result. A lot of rain in my area recently may be one cause in underground cables.

Email still downloads at about 20KB/s and software updates at about 60KB/s. That is nowhere near 2MB/s that you advertise for my service.

I read the Knowledgebase Bandwidth Priority Profiles that shows Titanium level for Home Capped. It does not show where email fits nor software updates. Are they Peer-to-peer and File transfer? The article does not allow comments but does need updating please.

So you still need to keep working with Telkom and your tech section to get better results.

Regards . ChasI

Setting your line to 8Mb/s will help a lot.
