So you still a freshling hey. haha. Well I am considering it now after reading up about it. My only concern is that everything starts off well and then after 3 months MWEB decides that you are 'abusing' the system and then shape or throttle you to hell. I have never really exceeded 40 gb per month at Webafrica. Probably average around 35 gb and I don't think this is unreasonable on a 1 mb line is it?

Well I would advise you to speak to users who have been there for a long time and ask their opinion. I know they don't throttle at all (their T&C's are really harsh but as long as you don't try to bypass shaping you're all good). A friend of mine averaged 140-170GB a month on updates/gaming/nntp and was fine.

Dum me.. left connection on WA. and guess what. during game internet died.
Guess its my fault though for thinking the connection will last.

Web Africa .. here is a serious question !! Do you want us discounted accounts (i.e. mybb specials) on your network or NOT.. seems we all being shafted.

I've had it with WA, I'm going back to MWEB. Throttling me over the long weekend is so downright embarrassing, it is indicative of their R279 "uncapped" product which isn't actually uncapped. False advertising if anything.

Mweb is quite clear. Download, but don't fool the shaper. Of course 24.7 downloading might be frowned on.

I am having lots of "Can't find a page" and then after 3 or 4 page reloads, the page loads. Not sure what this is?

I also have a MyBB special. I have had enough and jumping ship to MWEB. Tired of instability and poor performance.

Oh goody.... and maybe I should make heavy mention of this.... why oh why would you want to shape ftp into the ground on a Saturday morning when I'm far out of my window? (6 Hour Usage: 0.38 GB 0.79 GB)

Oh wait... it's my entire connection that's this slow.

I'm really pissed at myself for not requesting a refund (in the opt-out period) when I cancelled.

That was weird. Just before 9 I restart some DL's and all went fine - 600 kbs. Then suddenly could not get more than 300kbs.

Spoke to support who said the line was syncing at 6 meg but actual only showing 300 kbs. Anyway a port reset worked. Never had that before. We are now back to full speed

USAGE BETWEEN 12:00AM AND 6:00AM!

Hey guys I have noticed that my usage has been very high lately and I have been reaching my 6 hour and 7 day usage very quickly so I decided to put my downloads on a scheduler and I have found that information that WebAfrica have put on there website under the section "What is the Home Uncapped Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) and why does it exist?" either to make us believe that we are actually getting a better deal or there are some serious lack of management and people are not doing there job!

I set my download to run last night between 12:00AM and 6:00AM as per the attached

auppolicy.jpg

And this is the thanks we get...

usagehistory.jpg

All the downloads that I did between 12:00AM and 6:00 have been counted towards my 6 hour and 7 day rolling window!! I have just taken note today. So who knows how many other night of downloading between these hours have contributed towards me being capped and throttled barely able to browse any websites let alone game online or download... and I hope someone from WebAfrica reads this and I hope this gets sorted out or they will have one less customer to deal with!

Home Uncapped line rentals have increased :(

So - might not have all the right terms - Telkom cuts some costs to ISP, and with WA they whack rentals up. So for uncapped users, you have a service that has degraded over the months, and even thought WA has been able to save due to cost cuts from Telkom, poor WA uncapped are paying even more. Talk about WA really getting this wrong.

I wonder if any other ISP has increased their line rental deals?

WA capped account failing to max a 384kbps line.

@Jeff I hope the hotshots at WA are aware that they've got a quality problem across all fronts, not just individual issues where support can "look into it". 2 years ago I couldn't find anything that didn't max out the line. Now multiple connections to the WA newsserver + overseas newsserver result in 28KB/s....on data cap marketed as 10mbps friendly. Cheaper competitor products can max the line with the overseas servers only.

Yeah :/
Look up. That's a 1Mb line. I'm getting 60% of linespeed. Http and nntp (WA + intl server).

Edit: 9.40pm and out of window, but still maxing out at 60-70KB/s.
