Web Africa's new ADSL pricing revealed

Tagg explains that this is only the first phase in their price restructuring, and that consumers can expect a significant improvement in value in mid-July.

They are clearly trying to pay off their network by grossly overcharging their customers for a few months. Lets hope july leads to obscene improvements otherwise webafrica is the next telscum.

Everybody should now leave en masse, it's the right thing to do.

I did warn you last week Gary - but you, and many others kept on defending them.
WA has an identity crisis and think they are superior. The prices are not competitive and they now have even bigger margins because they are not dependant on SAIX anymore, having changed to 'n 1-StTier provider.

warn me about what? I'm currently with Afrihost... and I am planning on staying with them... If I get the 30Gb special for R199.00 I'll just add that to my bandwidth! :D

My comments in the other thread had nothing to do with defending them, we just wanted you to quit spamming the thread and to stop acting like a child. :p

Really, we should start a "signature campaign" to show our disgust.

Down with webafrica i say.

Really disappointing.

R48 per GB on my 5GB shaped account. Not really anywhere close to what I had hoped.

I dont see any benefits which would justify me paying R20 more per GB than an ISP like afrihost.

You gotta be kidding???? I use shaped 1GB prepaid...cos I really dont use much bandwidth at home. So it was R70, now R69???? Hello....anyone home...a one rand saving...well done...I mean seriously...thank you for considering the little guys like me. I am over the moon and jumping around with glee I am. Wow...I need to make a list. What do I spend my saved R1 on....choices, choices. I feel so overwhelmed I really cant decide what to spend it on? 3 chappies...hmm...maybe if I shop around ...I can get 4 chappies!! OMG...that would be awesome!

I have been waiting for months for reductions etc, and WA support kept saying please wait....we are restructuring things. So this is what I had to wait months for?????? A frickin R1 saving????!!!!! Im moving to someone else....Im tired of this kark. You have lost a client...worst of all you guys are gonna take a serious knock on word of mouth referrals. Boo to you!

The local Pricing is a JOKE to say the least!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why will I pay R159 for 12GB while I can get 32GB IS bandwidth for R129??? What a joke. Webafrica FAIL!!!!!

A huge slap in the face. I'm sure the remaining webafrica customers who waited for the price announcements will now switch over to Afrihost and other companies.

What took you so long? Afrihost has been half their price for months.

People must just vote with their wallets. Reward companies like Afrihost that are bold enough to offer the low prices they do.

How does that anouncement make the news? It would be interesting to see there new subscriber statistics.

My ******* feels violated... how is it possible for them to spew such garbage about how their network is going to provide us with cheaper/more flexible packages when the overall "increase" of bandwidth is only 10% with a mediocre price decrease? This is NOT AT ALL what we expected if compared to their hosting pricing announcement last year!

This is what happens when a company gets too big, with too many mouthes to feed... if 99% of their services *just worked from the start* then I'd imagine they wouldn't even need half the support agents they require now just to keep up with support issues... and trust me absolutely nothing is being done support wise to make this entire process faster/more reliable, because face it... the employees know, the more efficient the company runs, the less support agents they'll need, and their job will be in jeopardy.

EPIC FAIL

Not to mention that Gconnect account is also prepaid and @ R37 per GB for unshaped prepaid.

Most people are dumb enough to use an ISP's "free" mail service, so they're locked into using them forever just because they don't know better AND they'll lose the email when they move away from them. Too much effort for them to do so they'll just stick with them

/reserves comment until announcement of 30GB special packages.....
It's only a limited offer. How would you think their existing clients will feel at some people being given 30GB at R199, while they have to fork that out for 4GB?
