Unable to connect to Bnet, using VPN running through VOX to be connected. Please have a look.

Sorting out your ticket

Is it possible to have an update? Still no response to the ticket - if it can't be resolved in a timely fashion it's fine as long as it is communicated.

Game has been unplayable since Friday with the ping losses.

Do you have a looking glass for Cape Town? Ran the one I found on Google and it's giving JHB results

Replied to ticket. Made some changes our end. Please let me know if matters improve?

New Openserve commercials should be in place by January (together with a CPT NNI). Apologies for the delay here, just been crazy with Octotel and Frogfoot launches. (FF national is also expected to be live in Jan)

This is very exciting (FF - Jan) - any idea of rough pricing for 100 Mb?

Can you please provide more specifics? IP? Area? FNO?

Hi Websquad, it did help. There are still questions in my ticket that keep on not getting answered:
  1. Is there anything I can do to reduce packet losses other than nagging Websquad?
  2. Are there any programs I can use to optimise routes? If so, would you mind sharing?
  3. Has Websquad abandoned going with SACS? On Cool Ideas I get 220 average ping to the same server.

Packetloss is normally hardware related so not much you can do from your end (other than ensuring you have proper cabling / router in place).

Routing are normally up to the ISP. Commercial VPNs can affect that though.

Are you still using SACS on CI cause I thought I read they were turning the announces off (disabling the route) as it was causing more harm than good.

I used last about a week ago - will get a chance again this weekend and see.

Regarding the packetloss issue though, thanks for the answers. For commercial VPN's, would it be something like this? (Random Google) https://www.pcmag.com/roundup/354222/the-best-vpns-for-gaming

I don't mind paying an extra R50-100 to get a better and especially more stable ping (to North America in particular).

For gaming the best one I've seen is WTFast it's designed especially for gaming

Thanks @abudabi, you answered most of this for me.

1. Nagging us is the best way. I've spoken to the team about correctly allocating these tickets and will make sure it's quickly resolved going forward.

2. Routes are entirely controlled by our engineering team. We're multihomed and have a massive selection of routes from our upstreams. We have a routing table over 3 million prefixes in JHB (where, we select the best +- 800k from based on a variety of factors) and just shy of 2 million in CPT, were we select the best 800k as well. Obviously we cannot optimise every route before hand. We make picks based on BGP standards as well as our preferences of upstreams then monitor and make adjustments as required. In addition, we have no way of directly influencing download traffic (basically, it's up to other providers to optimise their networks) - so we need to get creative in this regard.

3. At this point we're waiting for one of our transit providers to take on the cable - we don't have a firm schedule in this regard.

Push all your traffic through Cloudflare Warp Plus. It's a R29.99 sub via google play store. Gives you access to Cloudflare local peering and they carry your traffic internationally.

Just an FYI if you take on the SACS cable you need to find a way around certain games choosing the best pings to connect people.. Perfect example is PUBG it chooses to connect you to the lowest ping area which is Brazil so PUBG gamers can't play on EU.

What are the benefits for us noobs with Cloudflare Warp Plus?

There are a couple of benefits for example with Warp+ which uses Cloudflare Argo you get access to the best routing. If you do remember a while back Cloudflare stopped traffic to it;s ZA points due to capacity issues so with Argo you don'y have that issue as you get priority.

If your ISP like in my case does not have the best international routing then this could help with that.

Most ISP's peer with Cloudflare all over the world but most ISPs don't have direct routes to you so it can help with that as Cloudflare will carry most of the traffic and they have a pretty good network.

For SA though they do use Seacom for transit but the routing seems to be spot on. France, Poland, Austria ect goes over Seacom and then you get UK, NL,PT ect still using Seacom transit but goes over WACS so the routing is decent.

You will have to test and see if you notice improvements or not.

Yeah we use argo routing for our websites behind CloudFlare and latency was about on average 30% better from ZA to EU for example

Greetings @websquadza would it be possible to get an update on ticket #793862 as I have been waiting a while for some kind of news or even just an update.
