Unfortunately not, this traffic is entirely managed by AWS (they handle their own global network traffic from the nearest handover). Do you have an indication of what latency you are getting in CPT for reference?
Currently hitting 150 watching a kid on youtube on 120

Definitely following the same route; Middle east via WACS would be a whole lot higher. Issue here is purely geography - the middle east route for AWS runs out of Mtunzini in KZN. There is no direct path between CPT and DBN (yet, there are two coming online next year). This means from CPT, traffic needs to go to JHB (+- 20ms) then on to KZN (+-9ms). Not sure where the rest of your latency penalty comes from (probably some processing overhead). But if you were to trace to the server, you'll definitely see a 20ms penalty on the CPT-JHB leg.

With regards to the new Trenched CPT-DBN and submarine (Africa-2) routes, no official figures are out regarding latency, but we're hoping to see some improvements on East coast routing for CPT users once adoption on these cables goes up.

150 from CT is about right I'm on Cool Ideas and also hit ME with 150 going via Amazon

The one time being in Durban doesn't suck ha! Getting 137 with ADSL and 122 or so on fibre.
It’s great to see the benefits of East Coast routing finally making headway. More importantly, I’m hoping to see some significant uptake of the new East - West (CPT) routes to give North - West some a run for it’s money once they’re up. Liquid and WIOCC will need to come to the party on their respective paths to make this viable- but once they do, we’ll see a whole new world of possibility for all SA regions.

Haven't been blackholed for a while and noticed some improved speeds on NNTP, but today I'm being hammered every time an automatic download finishes. Did they relax the rules for a while and then re-institute them?

Something very weird is going on, can't load the speedtest.net page, none of the Youtube videos are playing. Website seem to be ok for the most part but there seems to be some sort of outage, perhaps Google Services?

@websquadza interesting development on these short line speed fluctuations. I saw an automated download moving slowly, so I paused it and ran an MTR to 1.1.1.1, which was clear. While the MTR was running though, I ran a speedtest, and the MTR showed this: (I'm in Linux at the moment so using a less verbose app)

Speedtest result was this:

Actually I suppose it makes sense the packet loss would affect line speed tests, so not much new to report after all, except that it's still happening :sneaky:

Netflix seems to be buffering quite a bit. Anyone else noticing issues?

Speeds seem to be really slow. Could be a Netflix issue. Haven't tested anything else

Picked up an issue on the interface facing the KZN Netflix cache. Taken the interface down for now. Seems to be a physical issue on the cable. Waiting for techs to finish off there and will bring that back up.
