New night, new problems (tm)

Picked up on another 2 microbursts this evening. They last a few seconds and generate a spike of about 500 - 700% in packet volume while generating negligible extra traffic (just a few Mbps extra on our network). So our traffic patterns look normal while our routers have to take the load of Millions of packets per second to direct these tiny, useless packets.

We’re working with our upstreams to analyse the traffic (most of which needs to happen in real-time as these packet volumes don’t process well in sflow) and control these. We’re Monitoring this closely and working hard to sort this out quickly.
 
Is there something wrong? My connection keeps dropping over the past 5 minutes

Saw a short drop on NNI traffic levels (+- 30%) from AEX for a few mins. Seems to have come back up to previous levels. Not sure what happened there.

In English: This is the traffic we receive from and send to the AEX network (this is the bandwidth aggregator which includes Evotel, Vumatel and Netstream amongst others).

@websquadza - Quick question, friend of mine is looking at placing an order with you guys, and when he selects a product on the site, it adds vat and ends up at a totally different (higher) amount? I am assuming something ain't right here...

Blizzard is doing that weird route switching again this morning, but its on all routes this time. It's fine over VPN though.

@websquadza - Quick question, friend of mine is looking at placing an order with you guys, and when he selects a product on the site, it adds vat and ends up at a totally different (higher) amount? I am assuming something ain't right here...

Looks like it’s calculating a pro-rata amount there as well- I’ll ask our devs to look into that.. Tell your friend not to worry- billing only commences once the service is live. He can just choose the eft option and leave it at that. Our client service team will reach out, complete his order and get the billing sorted. Also remind your fried about our double up promo- so he’ll get double his speed for 6 months.
