@websquadza Sorry to bother on a Saturday evening. Just wanted to know if there's any issues with regards to throughput in Cape Town. Downloading an up-to-date Windows 10 ISO from the Microsoft website and only getting around 12-15MB/s. Only asking as I used to get 70-80MB/s consistently in the past.

Microsoft, like AWS, handle all their own transit and transmission into SA (basically they're local peering). We've seen this before when the CDN nodes they're delivering from are either down or congested, which means Microsoft offloads to other regions. Unlike AWS, when CDN delivery falls to another region, there's a bit of a slowdown. It seems they don't prioritise their own CDN traffic over inter region links (eg. Microsoft CDN in London delivering content in SA will feel slower than a connecting to an Azure instance in London and pulling content directly from that).

Same issue that I'm having, just not specific to 8.8.8.8, mines with everything
 
I'm not on websquad network but mts is my provider. Frogfoot network. East Pretoria and maaan has the net dropped tonight like 5 times and it's all connected to this thread same results

Not a Nag. Upstream's maintenance (so called firmware update) is ongoing and resulting in ongoing flaps, including flaps on NLD circuits.. We've completely drained them for the time being.

There's a common upstream in the mix. Unexpected and ongoing flaps are resulting in constant reconvergence on our side.

My thoughts exactly, the only cool thing is you're online as a support for your network. My provider is all sleeping so yea, just thought I'd say this is not just you lot haha
