WebAfrica General Feedback

It was the best non-mweb / afrihost / openweb /axxess option that I could find and it has performed very well, I'm just pointing out that as a BUSINESS product, it should cater to BUSINESS needs, not after hours downloader's needs. It's aimed at the wrong market.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the thread title does say "feedback"

Lots of businesses do their off site back ups after hours.

Not all business shutdown at 5PM.

Just to illustrate my point, I would like to be able to use between 300-350 GB per month, but in order to do so I would have to purchase a 1.2TB account! That's ridiculous!

So two thirds of businesses operate from midnight to 6am?

Clever business will schedule certain tasks (like ones that consume a large amount of bandwidth) after hours as not to interrupt time critical services that are occurring during normal business hours.

Web Africa offers the midnight data as a value add to the capped packages.

If you don't like getting free night data, there are plenty of other ISPs that don't.

Again, it's a business package, so the data should be available during business hours / whenever I want it. I'm just pointing out that it's stupid.

Oh, and as for other ISPs...
MWEB: I will never ever deal with them again. Forget it.
Openweb: What a joke.
Afrihost / Axxess: Streaming issues because Youtube and other Google services come from overseas, not the local CDN, so no thanks.
Telkom: I don't want to wait 40 minutes to get my calls answered when I have a problem (that's how long I have to wait when I call to report a telephone / adsl outage here)
Vox: Data rollover issues that never get fixed. If it weren't for this I'd definitely give them a try.

Come on WebAfrica, the other ISPs are dropping the ball. Your speeds are great, so offer a proper business package and you'll wipe the floor with them!

EDIT: They deliberately do this, so that they can offer 600GB cheaper than anyone else because they know most businesses will never use two thirds of the data...

It seems to be sorted on the Vox front. I've been burning through my cap this month and hit my rollover point yesterday and it's still working. Normally, I would find myself "capped" when I woke up in the morning. I still have about another 4 rollover points to hit, so am still monitoring.

You're missing the point here Chevron.
I would gladly go for a 200GB Webafrica capped account if it wasn't for the fact that they inflate the price due to giving you 'free data'.

You think the price is inflated?

Have you actually compared pricing? When I say free I mean it. The night time data costs almost nothing to provision.

Anyway let's do a quick comparison.

Afrihost:

200GBs from Afrihost is: R399 (with double data, who knows when it will end)
120GB+240GB is R399 from Web Africa. So that's 80% more data for the same price.

Crystal Web

200Gbs is R340
90GB+180GB from Web Africa for R299

I'd say they are pretty damn competitive.

And once you take quality of network into account there really isn't a contest.

i get what u all mean

so maby they should add a value addon

like Rxxx for 200GB and then for R50 more 200gb after hours,so

u pay cheaper, and if u want afterhour data u can get it for alot cheaper than normal daytime data

or R200exstra pm for uncap afterhour add on per month,or even a perday option at R15

so if u just need to download a game from stream on your cap,buy a one night uncap and download it

think that will be a great addon to there cap line up

Crystal Web
200Gbs is R340

That data can be used during the day though

That's the problem with the others unfortunately :(

Anyway, I'd be interested to know how much a 300GB / 400GB Business Capped account with anytime data and no after hours data would cost.

200GB anytime data from Afrihost costs R399
400GB anytime data from Afrihost costs R799
200GB anytime data from WebAfrica costs R899

I know that with Afrihost it's a double data promo and it won't last forever, but still.

But it's Afrihost.

i got a afrihost cap account as backup and its not bad, works great actually

it streams also :O

but for uncap i like WA the most

That's just the thing though, I'll find no need for the extra data so by rights I'm paying the same price for 80Gb less data with Web Africa.
