Weight Loss/ Gain thread Dec 2014 - 2015

Need to lose about 5 kgs more of fat. Its freaking though, not on LC or LF is making it tougher. I should go back to it but just can not get below 100g carbs.

Get married. Wife does all the cooking\meal prep and as long as I don't cheat, am good.

I hit the 80's this morning for the first time probably since my early 20's. I've been hovering around 100 since then.

So, started on 103kg middle of February

Today 89.8kg

Off to McDonalds to celebrate :p

Awesome. Keep it up and keep driving past that Mcd's in celebration.

Been 2 weeks and can't get below 82kg. Seems I have gone as far as the system will go.
Cycled around 200km over the last week and did not make a difference to weight.
I am all good with this to be honest. 12.5kg loss feels great.

Strive to maintain for a while, it may be that your body needs to adjust to the new norm. Later on you can stir things up to see if you can drop more fat. Over how long was the 12.5kg lost?

I've not been taking measurements or scrutinising myself too much of late, but it would seem that weight training is vital to retaining muscle mass whilst trying to lose fat. . Of course plenty of articles written on this topic but i seem to have tested it for myself inadvertently. Just not getting to the gym enough (once a week only) but still losing a tiny bit of weight. Probably muscle now :(

Indeed it is.

Somebody summed it up nicely the other day.

If you do not give your body a reason to retain muscle (weight training), your body will just assume you don't need it anymore and burn that along with fat for your daily energy needs.

Also seeing it first hand. After my dirty bulk from late last year to beginning this year I started eating in calorie deficit and also stopped training for more than 3 weeks because I thought "I'm going to get to a lower BF % before I start building again". Problem is I started losing a lot more muscle than fat because of this.

I immediately started working out again and was amazed at how much strength I lost along with the 8kg weight loss. Been at it again for the past two months and muscle retention is good (actually added a little again even with calorie deficit). Fat loss is even better. Noticing more and more muscle definition every week as the fat melts away. Measurements also staying about the same while weight is slowly decreasing.

Currently down to 82kg with around 12 % BF. Of course it gets more difficult and slower the lower you go. So only weighing once every 2 weeks now with an average loss of 500g.

As long as you train once a week you should be fine: http://www.muscleforlife.com/maintain-muscle-and-strength/

Started 5x5 again yesterday.. Yussie my arse and thighs are sore...

Good going APoc184 :)

Thats impressive if you still dropping 500g per week.

I'll aim for twice week to gain back some strength and muscle and see how it goes. . At least once a week then in the hectic weeks.

Have to help my dad empty the family home over the next few weeks as well as potentially sell another property and buy another for the old man. Very time consuming stuff :(

That first week back is always hectic.

Preferring this to 5x5 atm. Can already feel my core being stronger than it was on 5x5.

I want something more comprehensive than SL5x5, but I'm not ready for bodyweight exercises. Might look into ICF.
