Weight Loss/ Gain thread Dec 2014 - 2015

Professional rugby players have a lot more muscle mass. Ultimately its about muscle to fat ratio and what you are aiming for. Weight alone is not an indication of anything.

You just answered your own question. BMI takes nothing else into consideration other than weight. Hence rugby players versus soccer players, to use your examples. No muscle mass considered.

Well we don't know whether the doc is ignorant of his muscle mass. That's an assumption.

I don't dispute that BMI only serves as a decent indicator for averagely muscled individuals.

Yes, the doc might be assuming he has average muscle mass but you're also assuming he has high muscle mass?

I just find majority of doctors treat BMI scale as the be all and end all of goal weights which I feel is flawed.

Hmmm the doctors I deal with don't. They've always given me what I'd consider a respectable number and even said I would never get bmi. They reckon my perfect weight would be around 105kgs. My build won't cater for other.

What's your height?

Update:

Weight

Goal: 84

BF

1.69 but I'm rather squat, have broad shoulders. Think of a old style rugby prop. Broad shoulders, thick legs, large forearms.
OK, so skeletal structure comes into play here. My wrists measure 16.5cm (around the wrist bone). You're 2 cm taller than me but I'm 62kg and maybe 16% bodyfat.

My docs reckon I can maybe get down to 90 but doesn't think it would work for long. 105/110 he's happy.

Am I the only one that feels like they gained a ton over the long weekend.

Feels like all the weight has gone to my belly. (

No, I feel the same but hoping todays weigh just proves mind not real, didn't cheat or anything on the weekend so should still be a loss period for me.

I've gained about a kilo in the last month, though still well within my normal range. I feel it's related to the cold - my first winter as a thin person and I'm bloody freezing!

I went crazy this long weekend. Must have eaten at least triple what I normally do (at least now)

How do you guys keep being motivated to stay at gym and diet. I gave up on gym before my surgery and I'm really not feeling motivated to go back

I always used gym to lose weight. With LCHF I can eat as much "allowed" food as I want without gaining weight. I cancelled my gym membership as I will no longer require the 4:30am pain and suffering....

I only ate two decent meals yesterday and the rest of the time I ate a few bananas, had some coffee, wine, ate a 100g packet of crisps and some chocolate. Was driving around most of the day and a bit starved at times. At my lowest this morning, scale says 60.4kg, 15.6% bf, 62.6% water, 43.4% muscle. It's based on a formula and takes age into consideration so the body fat reading will favour younger individuals as older people apparently have more internal fat.

Seriously struggling with keeping warm the more the body fat % drops.

Currently down to about 13% and no matter how much clothing I wear, I just can't seem to warm up.
