Weight Loss/ Gain thread Dec 2014 - 2015

Hey guys.

If I post the amount and type of food that I pack for Mr Mila will you be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

He isn't dropping the weight and since I'm the food maker I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Tx. :o

Do it.

Are you sure he's not raiding the vending machine at work? Does he drink coffee?

Please please tell me what a day consists of.

I'm so stuck I feel like saying fuggit lets eat pasta.

Work day:

Breakfast - 1 litre water mixed with 2 scoops supershap diet whey chocalate
Lunch - green salad with light protein ie: tuna, left over chicken, boiled eggs
Supper - any protein with non-starch\carb veg. No potato, sweet potato, rice pasta etc. Replace with cauliflower, brocollie, marrows, patty pans etc. What we really like is cauliflowe bake with cheese, mushrooms and bacon as a "starch"

Weekend:

Breakfast - some form of egg - poached, scrambled, fried etc with bacon, NO BREAD
Lunch - very light or skipped. Make like canapes from a nice ham or a portuguese favourite, wrap ham around melon.
Supper - as week.

Desserts - cream unsweetened with little bit of fruit salad or bancakes ( banting friendly pancake etc )
85% chocalate in small portions.

I dunno why but this all works for me, still dropping about 1-1.5kg a week.

Oh and lots of water. I find this diet makes things "difficult" shall we say. Water helps cleanse and keep things moving. At work I use a bottle and drink about 3l a day, with the morning shake, it's closer to 4l

How come you're using 3 times the amount of recommended water? Surely it's too watery like that??

Add two level scoops (approx 40 g) to 250-300 ml of cold water or fat free milk (amount of liquid added can be adjusted to meet the consistency desired). To form a smooth, rich, creamy shake thoroughly mix in a blender or shaker for 45 seconds along with a couple of ice cubes. Use one or two servings daily to provide nutritional support for a lean body or alternatively use as directed by your nutritional advisor.

My system is on a role. I find myself having the odd cheat here and there now instead of just Saturdays (love chocolate too much), and the weight is still going down. Cheats are very small though.
This AM I was 84 on the dot. Tomorrow I am sure i will see 83.

The meal is supposed to be a sundae type thing but it can actually turn out like pronutro or harder consistency. This makes it like a milkshake for me.

Tx Kosmik. :)

Will weigh and post his lunch box.

But it goes a little like this

3 scoops full cream yogurt ( I mix in coco to flavor it a bit )
Dukan pancakes http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=1084368 ( Instead of Quark I use yogurt.)
Boiled egg and 2 small pieces for wors. or Two Veggie and mince Quiches.( I make it in the medium size muffin pans )

lunch : 1/2 squash broccoli and protein. ( not a large portion. Usually mince scooped inside the gem squash)

I pack him a little container with a hand full of biltong. If he gets hungry he has a snack on hand.

Dinner - Salad, veg and protein. I use the standard palm of your hand to size the protein portions.

We do not eat root veggies or sweet pumpkins.

We drink coffee and I pack a liter of water into his bag.

No sugar.

It all sounds good. Hate to be the one to say it, but are you sure he's not cheating? Work lunch is the worst, especially when other employees have takeout etc.

I suspect the cheating.
:(

And I hate being a nag and I hate making food. If he would just tell me to not go through all the trouble it would be nice.

// sigh

Thank you. :)

Pick n Pay website also has quite a few nice Banting recipes and obviously they have the ingredients, check them out.

Mila, what height, weight and bf % is he and what is his target weight and bf %? Impossible to judge otherwise. If he is seven foot tall that's not much food. If he's two feet shorter its too much perhaps .

So after a bulking period that didn't go quite as well as planned I started cutting again.

This morning I was down to 83kg. Lowest I have been in 12 years.

When I initially decided to turn everything around I was at 110kg. So in total I have lost 27kg in just over a year.

That includes 110kg -> 85 -> Trying to bulk up in the gym 98kg -> 83kg current weight.

First loss period was on Banting diet. Second loss was just plain discipline. Still had my oats, potatoes, pasta and odd burger.

So it can be done without Banting. Just a bit more difficult.

My goal now is to get down to 80kg which will leave me at about 9-10% Bodyfat. I will then slowly ramp up my intake to make lean gains.

Goal is still 90-95kg with around 14% bodyfat. But I know it will take years.

HE is 1.85 and weighs 109kgs. The doctor has told him to shed 20-30 kgs. ( besides the normal weight related issues he has had knee surgery and the extra weight is not helping it )

Looks to me like said doctor is pushing for a BMI goal for him and as we all know, BMI is crock of BS.

I am 1.78m. If I went to 80kg's I would look like an AIDS patient.

Ditto.

1.8m and from 93kg -> 85kg. All due to changing my running races from 10km to 21km.

Why do you say that? Professional soccer players weigh less than that at that height. Granted their body fat is ten percent or less, generally speaking.
