Weight Loss/ Gain thread Dec 2014 - 2015

New to this thread and have not had a chance to read through all the posts but it's a topic I'm always happy to talk about because I went through the same thing.

14 years ago on my 20th birthday at 125kg++ (stopped checking after 125) I decided to get in shape for my 21st. After a change in lifestyle a year later on my 21st I weight 77kg. I did however go back up to about 95kg around 29/30 years. But again a change in lifestyle being older and your body does not respond the same way I went back down and remain at healthier 82kgs, 77kgs was way too low for my frame.

So that's my story and will be happy to share any part of it if it helps.

<snip>
The other thing is that I was underestimating how much peanut butter I was eating. I thought I was having something like 15g per serving - in reality, it was closer to 60g or more per serving. Sometimes twice a day, which means over 100g of peanut butter every day. That's a whole lot of energy I actually didn't need. One day I weighed a typical peanut butter serving and got the shock of my life!
60g, at a guess, is that like 10 level teaspoons of the stuff? :wtf:

Maybe something like that, I'm not sure. The way I used to do it when eating it with yogurt was to take a spoon (the kind you would use to eat breakfast cereal), and load it up with peanut butter so that it formed a ball occupying the entire "bowl" of the spoon. One heaped spoon I suppose you could say. That is about 60g.

15g is actually not much more than a teaspoon. In fact, a heaped teaspoon could easily be 15g. Measure it with a scale, you'll see. Its a lot denser than you think!

EDIT: When I made breakfast sandwiches, I'd probably use 40g to 50g. One knife with a heap on it basically. Enough to cover the bread in a layer about 1-2mm thick.

Same here, when i put p-butter on bread or toast i layer it on really thick. People probably think I'm mad...

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, but mine spoke of an ass getting fat again. Come Monday, I'll be climbing back on the weight loss wagon. I'd start tomorrow, but I have a date with a table full of carb laden goodness. I'll be plotting my weight loss strategy in between stuffing my face.

So the usual stuff myself over weekend and start fresh on Monday routine?
We all fall into this trap. I'm just eating everything but moderately and very little at night.
Combined with exercise and lots of water weight loss is guaranteed.

I am very, very optimistic this time around. So I'm starting at a bit more than the 2013 thread, 64kg (shurrup Shaun), but I have a plan :D

I never wanna be that thin again. You're going to look like a surfboard :p

A surfboard with a soccer ball stuck to the middle :(

The worst part is I am getting the sneaky feeling that even 45 won't be enough to get rid of the bulge in the middle

Eliminating carbs from your diet should do it, but that's damn difficult when you're vegetarian.

Impossible actually. I attempted eating meat again a few weeks back. This time I lasted a whole two weeks of some mince samoosas :o
