Weight loss

SO is type 1 Diabetic. Would a low carb/no carb diet be advisable?

Well low carb anyways. Doubt he will be able carbs out totally.

I know there's some research been done in this regard but I haven't followed it. Maybe start with this guys stuff, but I can't really comment on validity as it's not been on my radar

Why keep quiet on the dairy?
And yeah, that is the recommended amount. I am currently trying something where my calorie intake is slightly more than my required intake - with the hope that I can build muscle and slowly lose BF as well as I bulk up. Now as far as I have read, this means that my protein intake needs to be large. I do not see the problem with having a high protein intake though? As far as I can see, you cannot really consume TOO much protein (or it is very difficult to consume as much that it would actually harm you), provided you drink enough water.

You just buy the veggies frozen, but I steam them in the microwave before eating :)

I do not eat provitas, only two slices of low-gi bread for lunch.

and regarding the milk - easy! 1 glass with my wheatbix, 1 glass with lunch, 1 glass with dinner!

My bad on the provitas... been thinking of that with nutella all morning so misread weebix :D
Ok protein is good but personally, I don't think its good to be getting it in through shakes... Just my opinion and experience.
Obviously you cook the vegetables genius :p But frozen ones aren't very tasty and from what I learnt (maybe someone can confirm / reject) plants start losing nutrients when they get picked, so the longer you wait to eat them, the less useful they are. And eating frozen ones limits your choices a bit.
And I'm not a big dairy supporter in general. Especially milk  Because I'm no calf :D

Haha, well, I hate spending too much time preparing food for myself. So the quicker, the better. I like the frozen ones because it is super fast to prepare them, and yes I agree with you that they lose some nutritional value...but it isn't much at all.

My dinner takes me +-8minutes to prepare.

What could possibly be wrong with getting protein through shakes?

edit: and the frozen vegetables are tasty enough, just add a little bit of cheese :)

Raw = no cooking time :D
And I just had quite a bad experience with a shake... And the dr who told me to use it...

I think this actually applies to most food

but dont they freeze that veggies right after picking? i would think those veggies maintain their nutrients much better than those that are carted to the marketplace.
.

Could be. But they still get freezer burn and don't taste so nice unless you put them in something mushy.

Slow friday, Have a great weekend all. This has probably been my best week in terms of behaving since I started - hoping to see that reflected on Mondays weigh in
