Weight loss

wtf! weetbix is 64grams of carbs per 100!

There are two types of carbs- glycaemic and non glycaemic. Fibre is non glycaemic. It doesn't affect your blood sugar, but it's counted as carbs on food labels

yes but only 10 of that 64 are fiber!

edit: According to the SA Glycemic Index & Load Guide, Weetbix has a high GI of 70.

higher than sucrose lol...

Seriously? Didn't know that. In that case those pieces of shredded cardboard are the poo of Satan.

Lol, I'm not too worried about, still feel like I've been losing steadily. Will need to remember to buy a better snack option next week.

I went to the Virgin Active in my area, yoh it was amazing!! So high class!! :D I had the best workout there ever!! :D (I gym at the on campus gym at varsity).

So far my weight is 116,72Kg (I weighed myself in the bathroom). So far so good, I'm still going strong. I notice on the machines it shows calories...how reliable is the value displayed by calories?

I would like to know, what do you guys think about taking supplements? I'm not going to take them, just wanna know what the MyBB forumites think about it :D

Been doing some research. Correct me if I'm wrong. The key to sustainable weight loss is avoiding foods that cause an insulin spike?

That will help, yes. Avoiding insulin altogether is even better

Yup, its actually really easy! I managed to lose 10 KGs over 3 months due to this lovely little fact! This is why low carb diets work for most people as sugar, bread, rice bla bla all cause insulin spikes some less than others but ya.

Bleh I weighed myself today - not a gram down :'( I have been hitting weights pretty hard but that shouldn't stall me. Meh I guess I will just have to soldier on

1) Even if you enter your weight and age on the gym machine, the calorie consumption calculation is still not great. I am 86kg and I burn more than double what the machine thinks when I use quick start. Rather get a watch with a heart rate monitor chest strap. Now you can monitor your progress on your watch, plus your heart rate will be communicated to the gym equipment from your chest strap as they use a common bandwidth.

2) Only start using supplements after you reach a plateau and want to improve further. For now, just buy a Meal Replacement Protein Shake and drink it instead of one of your daily meals. Hopefully the improvement in diet will allow you to slowly burn fat. Then you just need to keep doing it for the rest of your life. :)

most meal replacements are absolute ****e and loaded with carbs.

Nope. Its water and lots of it. It kills the craving for foods that cause the insulin spike.

nothing less than 3 litres a day.

Incorrect. Water cannot kill carb cravings, and excessive amounts of water will have negative effects on your health (electrolyte depletion, calcium leaching etc)

I've already cut out all processed carbs and sugars, been doing paleo for a month. Now I just have to give up the butternut and peas and fruit.

What's left after that then? Meat, chicken , fish, eggs, leafy veg, veggies above ground, sweet potatoes, bacon,...
