Weight loss

morning all
Quick question OMB, the sparkling water "trick"..doesn't the sparkling water have the same amount of sugar and additives etc? Or were you talking about sparkling un-flavoured water.. Having a slow day.

:D
Dude flavoured sparkling water is called sprite, dark flavoured water is called Coke..

Its the unflavoured sparkling water or even Soda water, just add lemon

not the flavoured stuff (although some of the Woolies sugar free stuff isn't too bad), I'm talking just plain sparkling mineral water

Well.. The 3kg person is most likely (not definitely) eating reasonably healthy and will have to be quite strict with themselves to get the last few kgs off. The person who is 30kg over probably eats like a piglet or has a disease or something. If I eat 1, never mind 3 or 4 or 6 rashers of bacon or chops I will probably throw up... The guy who is so much overweight may cut out slightly and notice a huge loss where the other person will have to probably watch their diet much more closely.

I know a guy who lost 15kgs just by reducing - not eliminating - his coke and choccie intake, thats all...

/sigh

I give up

That is so not cool!!:wtf:

I am easily 30kg plus over weight but 100% certified disease free and definitely don't eat like a piglet, just use to over indulge on unhealthy carbs and snack too much, but portion size, always average or below.

it was a good question, there are people that drink the flavoured water like the Aquelle range thinking it's ok, meanwhile it is loaded with sugar too, the same goes for a lot of ice teas which are promoted as being a healthier choice

And I said probably not 'all people who are overweight are fat pigs'. I'm part of the weight loss thread myself....

Of the so called flavoured waters, Seltzers are the best, but sugar content is still too high for me. Those ice teas, yeh, they just nasty!

your comments reflect the existing paradigm with regards obesity, the whole American population are being judged by the exact same standards that you use, that they eat too much and exercise too little, meanwhile they've been bombarded with bad information around nutrition for the last half a century and they live in an environment being bombarded with messages around unhealthy food and told to keep off the fats.

American soft drinks and a whole load of their food products are made with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which is even worse than normal sugar, Coke SA was exploring it as an option here a few years ago but decided to stick to sugar.

The reality is it's not how much you eat, but how much of what you eat (carbs) that is the problem

Poor form.

The person who is 30kg overweight probably believed all the "carbs are your friend" propaganda.

Besides, I still eat like a piglet. Half a kilo of meat + some veggies for supper, 6 rashers+ of bacon with breakfast? And yet again, the numbers don't lie.

And the fact that it costs 75c to supersize anything to a family size burger, coke and chips.
But 1 person consumes it all.

Wow who would have guessed....

I don't think you and I understand each other at all.

No, I think the problem is that you have been brainwashed and are unable to change your mindset even a little...?

Interesting... And it takes 30kg to realise something is wrong?
Honestly - if a person believes what they are eating is healthy but they keep picking up more and more weight - don't blame propaganda.

Really?
All your life, you're told how some pasta and sauce is good. Weight keeps going up. Dieticians put you on radical low fat diet. You can't stick to it because you're permanently STARVING, low blood sugar, cravings, mood swings, headaches, fatigue - and the weight goes up.
So you have a thyroid function test - perfectly normal. Go to gym, weight keeps going up.
ALL CONVENTIONAL METHODS ARE EXHAUSTED. So what do you do?

Eventually I tried something different. And guess what - the weight came off. Despite my doctors telling me I would die a HORRIBLE death within the next WEEK if I ate that.

So yeah. I hardly think the 30 kg overweight was my fault, ok?

Since I was almost done with my 4 weeks of paleo, I thought I'd jump on the ketogenic diet bandwagon on Saturday and yep, the scale is moving downwards again. The only thing is I hate the meals. I added some chicken to my diet and I have to eat as fast as I can just to get those meals down. I'm gonna try and finish 2 weeks and then do carb cycling with paleo foods. I enjoyed eating the paleo way.

Pecan nuts + coffee for breakies.

Ever noticed how Pecan nuts look like fried cockroaches? :D
