What is the best anti-virus program?

Bit Defender? Never again thanks. Anyone remember their rogue update that treated Win 7 64bit system files as viruses and started deleting them all?

Using Kaspersky and so far no issues

Norton also complete rubbish

had kaspersky on our home pc's
slowed everythin down badly.


After licenses expired i am considering getting a lighter antivirus.

Wouldn't mind paying for avast if it just doesn't choke the pc's resources so badly.

Is it possible to set up network pc with antivirus that will be gateway and scan other pc's traffic which is passing through this server.

The article is factually inaccurate here. Norman Antivirus & Antispyware received those very poor scores, Norton scored 83% (not perfect, but considerably better than 33% and 50%).

Im using Avast and it works great, dont think I will use another antivirus because I went through them all and Avast stood out for me

Im just disappointed that the Avast mobile for smartphone is not up to scratch... they should have designed it similar to the pc version
 
when you install it they require you to add your icon and name it. then there is a password linked in order to access the app. There were other reason that I just cant recall that I didnt like and I know it was something to do with installing or updating app I think you had to put in the password every time but I might be wrong

I have no problems with it.

Not sure what you mean with add icon. The password is to protect it from being tampered with, Avast on Android does tracking so it would be pointless of someone can steal the phone > go into > avast settings and disable it quick...

Thanks for that... I will install it again and give it another go. I just have one question, does it require a lot of resources?

Not form what I could see, I just updated it this morning and realized that it now has tracking via Web portal: https://my.avast.com that's so awesome IMO that I even made a new thread about it. :D

I don't feel the antivirus part is very important on Android, but the tracking + remote commands are what makes it worth it.
 
Anything but Norton.

Have always used AVG even though it's not perfect and is backed up by both MalwareBytes and Superantispyware.

For suspected false positives - virusscan.jotti.org/

Now if only the AV companies could decide on a single name for a virus, why must everyone call it something different.
 
Just thought I would let you guys know that I installed the Avast mobile and its actually a great app
 
Lately I've been having trouble with Avast. For some reason after installing, it does not download virus engin or update virus database. It just hangs for hours and I just end cancelling it. What the next best thing except MSE?
 
Mirosoft Security Essentials... The Win7 version (not the Win8 version).

I've been using MSE on my laptop since I bought it. Last night I installed a bit defender trial and left it to scan overnight. Picked up a trojan that MSE never did :(
