What is wrong with men these days?

You certainly may Brendan. We are between the ages of 25/30.

I'll be honest, I'm as surprised as you are then. All I can think of is that women in large groups tend to give off a "Go away, we're having a ladies night." vibe. If it was two or three of you I'm sure you would have gotten some attention.

Some of my friends have tried this chat room scenario as well as dating sites and have met some really strange unsavoury characters who go out with girl A and then meet up with girl B and then followed by Girl C. It's all rather alarming.

Also true, but then so is your chance of running into a player at a bar? Atleast on a chat basis you can get to know the person before hand rather than just judging by looks and then being disapointed later anyway?

What are you talking about? In what way do you mean that men reject women? I'm talking about the initial approach - women rarely approach guys in order to be rejected.

You wanted an answer, you got an answer - but because you don't like the answer you become defensive about it :)

No no don't get me wrong i'm not being defensive about it. I just simply don't agree with your opinion that women have themselves to blame for men not having confidence to walk up to a woman and strike up a conversation. I've seen plenty a woman try to initiate conversations only to be shot down themselves. It works both ways. If you are not interested in the person you are speaking to you will not wish to engage in any sort of meaningful conversation. I invited my boyfriend on a date myself, i did not wait for him to invite me out.

I just took it for a given that majority of men saw themselves as the hunters and not vice versa.

Sure you may not agree, but evidently I'm not the only one in this thread with the same opinion ;)

asking a serious question....
a few women in a group appear as hunters to a single man. he knows that together, you are a formidable opponent.
be honest...mr normal walks up and somehow gets the courage to chat to one of you..what do the rest do? listen in and chirp? does the girl he is chatting to think "oh god, what a loser, on his own at the pub..looking for a lay?"
he doesnt have keys to a porsche, and doesnt have a particularly good job..he is also just looking around.

i can promise you..he wouldve been blown off and rejected. so he has taken a shortcut to that rejection, but saved the pain, by sitting alone and nursing his beer instead.

dont blame him. the blame lies closer to home i fear.
i've been there, many times.

tell me...did your friends see any guys they might have liked? did they approach them, or make it known? you can shout rape easily, or any number of things which could land us in [email protected] you dont make your intentions clear, then no single bloke will approach.
the flipside is, you may come across as a bunch of slags. that is the gamble you take.

feel our pain, for centuries guys have been branded as "only wanting one thing", when we actually fell into the above category, of just trying to make our intentions clear.

where do you meet guys?
spontaneously..

That makes more sense to me! Thank you for your honesty! I can see now perhaps why men didn't approach them and perhaps you are right. It's just a moment of spontaneity that brings two people together.

Sure you may not agree, but evidently I'm not the only one in this thread with the same opinion ;)

True but there are a lot of people out there who don't ever see their own actions as to blame for the situation. Not saying this is the case but it could be.

I think you may be on to something there.

maybe next time, fine, go as a group, but enter one at a time and sit in groups of max. 2 people in various places around the bar.

if you see a bloke looking at you, try smiling back and waving. if they walk up, offer them a drink. if they dont walk up to you then go walk up to them and offer them a drink.
start the conversation with "i dont need to get laid tonight thanks but i am single so i wouldnt mind a chat and some company, what about you?" nice and clear and straightforward. everybody knows where they stand now.

use his name lots while speaking to him... everybody loves the sound of their own name.

if your friends do this, they will meet many guys. it is a special technique called "making an effort" :-)

i know i come across as very sarcastic, but i am pretty serious as this thread is one i have been expecting for some time. many of my friends are still single and i dont have the time to type out all the conversations they have had about why they didnt approach xyz and how sad they are, but for this and that fact and now the opportunity is gone etc.

we all yearn for partners, good conversations and especially, someone to understand us, but not many people appreciate repeat rejections and put-downs when they are trying to have a nice night out. hence the mutation in behaviour

Do you know what a great opening line is ?
(when approaching a group of women)

Ladies would you mind if I joined you for a bit of friendly conversation ?

instead of

Hi ladies, can I offer/buy you a drink ?

It's all about the approach, with approach 1, there is a slim chance of rejection because of the word 'friendly', with approach 2, the chance of rejection increases dramatically.

- Friendly conversation has no strings attached
- Buying or offering to buy a drink places a burden on the lady. (the burden of possible expectations)

Women are verbal, always remember that.

Actually it's: "Are you an angel, because the amount of date rape drugs I put in your drink is enough to kill you."

Bwhahahaha @ pos(t)er, that is so wrong on so many levels but damn it made me laugh!
