What is wrong with men these days?

I think you were lucky and found your rose amongst the thorns. I have dated a few people from the internet and most of them were complete creeps who weren't just dating me. While it gives you a chance to filter people you also can't really tell who it is you are speaking to. People can be anyone they want while on the net and it's a lot easier for 'players' to use this anonmity to their advantage.

I met my fiance online 6 years ago. It is easier to 'filter' them out. Before that I went through a long time of meeting/dating women I'd met in clubs and other social venues but that didn't work out. Its all luck of the draw really. There are freaks everywhere.

Just a question, were your friends looking for long term relationship material when out? I don't think anyone I know met their partner (or husband/wife) in that way so that's a long shot at best. I think Internet dating is even more successful it seems. Why does it seem that the girls always complain about the "weirdos" on the Internet? I know why, it's because they glance over the normal, nice guys and go for the bad boys who appear to be rich etc (just what the "players" do). So it's their own fault.. since I know for a fact there are plenty of good guys looking for partners online but they just cant get ahead

I would usually say that you may have a point gripen. But i can speak honestly and openly about my friends as i know they are not materialistic so money is not the deciding factor when the browse through the online dating profiles. As for bad guys. I think my friends are mature enough to be past that stage in their lives where they want the excitement and drama of dating a bad boy. That is something girls do when they are in their late teens as it's all very alluring and exciting to date someone who they consider a rebel.

Yea they are on the look-out for long term material. Granted FTV was probably not the most appropriate place for this.

As far as the internet is concerned i do feel the girls are generally not looking to score nearly as much as the men you may come across on the internet. But as the previous poster mentioned it is after all the luck of the draw. As you could bump into this same person at a bar/club/restaurant.

Well gee. Most men are intimidated by women, and that was before equal rights, jobs, etc. Now not only are women equally educated and paid (in most cases unfairly leveraged over men) but they still have their inherent sexiness and femininity that scares the bejesus out of today's metrosexual male. Does that answer your question?

Besides, maybe a guy gets thrown in jail for rape if he stands next to you at a bar to start a conversation. Want to be a feminist? Fight for the ever-increasing mountain of female "rights"? Welcome to vibrator land. Men are becoming more "in touch with their female side" and women are becoming "stronger" and more "independent". You asked for it and now you got it. At least, the majority of women.

However, the not-so-metro, confident males who are not concerned about their jeans showing off genitals and how much "product" goes into their hair, should have no trouble dealing with today's women. You're just looking in the wrong place.

I'm sure it's been asked somewhere in this thread ... but how old are your single friends? ;)

Now from our point of view:

Women are completely insecure about our so-called sexiness and femininity. We are scared ****less when a man approaches us as we don't want to stuff up and say the wrong thing or come across like an idiot or just not make the right move. We don't know how to show our interest, so we giggle and we play with our hair and we try to think of witty comebacks that might impress the gorgeous male standing before us.

Then when he leaves? We phone our friends and obsess over whether or not he is going to call or if he even likes us enough to call us.

For some reason a vast majority of the men on here think we are intimidating and full of crap. This is not the case. We are just as nervous and scared as some of you guys have mentioned you are. Give us a break too will you. We aren't all money grabbing whores! Sheesh.

Not in Pretoria - with Afrikaans girls anyway.
