What PC Parts :(

I've just moved the CPU and ram to my plex server and the PC boots up perfectly. So I'm now 100% sure it's the motherboard.

Windows picks up i5 4570 and 8gb ram.

Running CPU-Z and single thread score is 1520 and multi thread is 6003 - does that seem correct?

My i5 4590 gets 1631 and 6193 so that seems right.

Looks like it's just one of those things, PotterH will sort you out.

Yeah I'm not too fussed, already spoke to him and he will swap the mobo. He only has a gigabyte q87m d3h (I wasn't able to find q87m model which I've asked to double check for me) but now do you think it worth it or should I wait and try get the same board I have now? You know what is best

That sounds like the same board to be, with a mistake, you have the b85m-d3h, he mentioned q87m-d3h, that's pretty close and easy for him to make the mistake.

So you think it could be a b85m-d3h?

If so should I just swap them out? I don't want to loose any ports etc but on the other hand if it will do the job there not really a point in not taking it.

I think it's the exact same board you have now, possibly from another bundle he was looking to sell.

Ok will see what he says. I did tell him the board I have now before he offered me this one but maybe he a little confused.

Will wait for him to reply.

Just did a quick Google, maybe you are going to get a nicer board, maybe his way of an apology, I think it could be the GA-Z87M-D3H.

Yeah maybe.

Will wait to see what he replies with and then take it from there.

Just open two tabs in your browser side by side and compare the board he offers to the one you have.

Hope it's fast, I know I wouldn't like all my shiny new components just standing unused.

Bad luck, so far you are the second person I know of with a DOA part, the other guy I know of got a DOA CPU. No worries he'll sort it out though.

This has happened to me with brand new parts from a distributor before as well, that's life.

Yeah it sucks. Especially seeing some parts I've had for over three weeks. So what's another couple of days.

My only other concern is the issue with the case. I wanted a nice clean build but now it seems I'm going to have a huge bulge on the side.

Not sure I I can exchange the case seeing as I have opened it already.

Yeah is bad luck. Potter I'm sure will sort me out so not too stressed. Just want to get the PC up and running. With all the problems I've faced so far I'm worried it's maybe a sign .

So it is a Gigabyte Q87m. Any thoughts?

You win, Q87M-D2H?

It has one less old PCI slot, replaced by a new PCIe slot and it has 6 x SATA 6Gb/s instead of 4 x SATA 6Gb/s and 2 x SATA 3Gb/s.

You are getting a better board.

It doesn't hurt to ask them, I've only heard good things about Wootware after sale support, not like it's your fault the GPU width limitation can't be found anywhere.

Yeah will see what they say. I bought from Rebel Tech I think. But will contact them and see.

Same thing goes for RebelTech, the owner is even registered and active on Carbonite, might be worth it to send him a PM.

Serious?

That might work in my favour. Can see the images I posted etc. will try find them if they don't reply.

Only thing is I really like this case ALOT! Form factor the works.
