What PC Parts :(

So does it make sense to go for the more expensive one?

I thought all PSU's come with a power cord?

If you need a power cord AKA kettle cord go with the more expensive one.

Seems they are trying to save a few bucks ,by not including the power cord :P

Now that I think about it I don't think any of the power supplies I've ever bought came with a power cord, weird.

Info - not sure what the final bill of materials are that you're going with so possibly irrelevant.

Not long ago, Asrock canceled its plans to produce non-Z170 motherboards with the ability to overclock non-K CPUs with base clock manipulation because of a lack of support from Intel. Now, Asrock is further removing support for overclocking non-K CPUs by removing its Sky OC feature from its Z170 motherboards.

When Sky OC was announced, countless PC enthusiasts were excited about the prospect of being able to overclocking non-K Intel CPUs again, which is something that has not really been possible for the last several years. Sky OC enabled this feature again by using base clock manipulation.

So I have given myself until the end of this week to finalize my build (hoping to find some good deals). So far I have found this but not sure which one is better to go for:

ASUS H81 Gamer Board
Intel i5 4590 (balance of 3 year warranty)
Zalman CNPS5x COU Cooler
4gb RAM (will swap this for 8gb anyway)
-R3460

Or

Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
i7 4770k
- R4000

What you think?

Both used. The i5 roughly 8 months (what they tell me) and i7 I think 1.5 years roughly.

I'm a little confused, why would you pay R3460 for used i5 hardware when you can get a new i5-4590+MB+8GB for R3300?

As far as I know those bundles aren't available anymore and are also used items? Also this bundle include CPU cooler and a better mobo (if I am not mistaken)?

If the R3300 bundle is available is that still the best one to go for?

Edit: thinking about it I will wait for PotterH to get more of those bundles. Will message him now.

The bundles & cpus come and go depending on his stock levels. If he runs out he will get new stock in a few days or a week later. No the stuff he sells is new, boxed & sealed, ask him to verify. As of 7Feb he had bundles available, you'll have to ask if that is still the case. i5-4590+B85_MB+8GB=R3300, i7-4790+B85_MB+8GB=R4500

What features does that MB offer that you are gonna use that a B85 MB does not have? Unless overclocking (which you can't on h81 & b85 chipsets anyway) the MB makes zero difference to performance.

Dunno, if it was my money I would get the i7 bundle.

You just threw another spanner in the works. Will the R1200 increase really give that much more performance over the i5?

Where did you see the bundles available again? I just looked on carb but only saw the older ones.

At the moment in gaming not really, there are a few games that would benefit from the i7 4cores/4threads though. I'm thinking of the future here. For video editing, game streaming etc it would help a lot though. Trying to sell my own i5 to get an i7 from him.

I PM'd him for stock availability on the 7th, the threads are not always up to date.

Sent him a pm now. Will wait for a reply.

Hopefully he has some more in stock soon. Also going to stop looking around for deals as that just confuses me.

Well 3 days ago he had stock so hopefully he still has.

You are running around a bit like a headless chicken I've notice :D

Yeah hopefully.

I am a little yes. Was set on the bundle but then he was sold out. Then the mobo I decided on was sold out and then next one was a few hundred more and my budget etc.

It's all the shopping around that is also confusing me which is why I'm not going to shop anymore. All I'm waiting on is this now and then I'm set.

Looks like ponder has got this covered, but I still keep my eye on this thread and you can still PM or ask me anything and I will be there to help.
