I actually laugh whenever I hear blacks go on about how the white man 'stole' their land. Back in the day their forefathers were all too keen on making the legitimate trades. They also jump on the "all of this land is ours even though we were never technically there" bandwagon.
When the white man's involved, they conveniently ignore the fact that they murdered each other's tribes for the land they lived on. The xhosas and zulu's were constantly at it. The mdebele's were chased away by tshaka to what is now known as Zimbabwe. Yet now they're best buddies with each other? You killed each other's f'ing families over land, but you're mad at white people who traded fairly?
Dingaan was also a wonderful forefather to be proud of...during peaceful negotiations regarding land ownership with the voortrekkers under the leadership of Piet Retief, he and his cronies made them leave their weapons outside and then slaughtered them like pigs...that wasn't enough...they then went out and murdered their wives, kids and elderly as well. If I were a zulu i'd be ashamed to be one rather than going on about how unfairly we were treated. Then again the Voortrekkers and the english were at war as well, so I probably shouldn't be friendly to the limeys who put my people in concentration camps either. But that's how the world worked, get over it.
It seems the biggest mistake the dutch/english made when they settled here was not offer the locals blankets lined with smallpox.
