An Independed Org.? to control the Funds? like ICASA ? Even the Justice is not Independent anymore. Ha Ha
I'm on Pension and pay Tax every month, should move to Europe because with that amount I would not have
to Pay Tax at all

Exactly - I was chatting to a forumite yesterday about this exact thing, I don't come from a well off family, I don't have a formal education (no matric), I moved to Cape Town (with my R8,000 car I bought, and a suitcase full of clothes), took months to find a job because I'm white - and then when I got one, had to save for 6 months before I could even afford a bed to sleep on. Yet, it is expected that everything was handed to me because I'm 'white'

Dont worry - I've actually employed someone to help me get the amount taxed down any legal way possible.

Voter education would be good but I see no progress there. Do you mean taxes we pay to SARS? Or municipal rates? There is no doubt that the tax payers of this country are well educated and intelligent but we seem unable to come up with any counter to what is happening. The problem may be we are too law abiding to make a stand. It's either that, or maybe the fact that we don't work together.

Yep, I went through exactly the same. I do have "some" formal education but I paid for it myself doing part time jobs that others won't do (not going into detail right now - and no I wasn't a male hooker :p) It took me 6 years to get a qualification and by the time I finished it wasn't worth much (except to me - people value what they worked hard to achieve) Now I am finally in a place where I don't have to count pennies to pay my bills every month yet they still insinuate things were handed to me. As a fellow Cape Tonian I think you will understand this incredible urge I have to just give them a PK whenever they say that. It's ignorance and propaganda at best and they (ANC) are using it very successfully.

ICASA :D Don't get me started :D No, more along the lines of a well respected international poverty relief organisation like UN poverty relief or similar.

When I say taxes I mean every single penny of taxes (even VAT). We should get the smart financial and legal guru's in a room so that we can figure out a way to do it legally until the government it does what it is supposed to or their voters revolt against them due to starvation etc. It is time to make a stand. A peaceful and legal one but it is time. The guys witholding funds from the municipalities are doing it legally I am sure there must be a way for us to do it as well. Just with all forms of tax.

Let's add my "rich" white stats:

Me (31), sis (26) and both parents (50+) live together just to maintain our middle class existence. The bank owns the house and two cars which leaves us with, well, not much eh.

Seems to be too much apathy amongst tax payers. Our way of 'making a stand' is emigrating which is just allowing ourselves to be pushed out. Hopefully someone will come up with a legal solution before it is too late but I am not convinced there is one.

Yip - my mother retired last year, she was a school teacher, at mainly small black schools in Venda, earning R12,000 odd (after working for almost 40 years :eek:) - my dad was retrenched round 1994, his job, which he'd been doing for many years, teaching black people to farm. They get by now on what ever he makes growing seedlings for farmers, with this money they also offer financial support to my brother, also a school teacher, earning a VERY small salary, just more that I now make in a day.

My parents still owe exactly the same on their bond than they did 20yrs ago... fortunetly the property boom made it worth a lot more than the bond, they also have two financed cars... and my grandparents to try and support.

Yet we're labeled as racists, and we took everything from the blacks - my parents gave most of their lives giving - not taking. I will never do what they did.

In my early 20's I slept on the floor and worked like an SOB to get where I am today. That said, I will admit that I had the advantages of a first class education, three meals a day and never learnt via candle light in a shack so perhaps I had a leg up.

Having a decent roof over your head and electricity to study by doesn't exactly give you a better start later in life... I don't ever recall studying at night.... maybe I got better sleep, but I still had to work my ass off.

EDIT: Are you male? Always thought you were female (no offence), maybe I was getting confused with mila.

If you're given a book - and have been taught to read - don't blame it on not having electricity if you don't study...

Granted, pre-1994, you probably weren't entitled to an education - but now you are, there are no excuses, and just about every shack has electricity - and every second one in Cape Town DSTV by the looks of it.

I think getting home from school and not having to go and fetch a bucket of water from a tap a few kms away and prepare dinner for my brothers and sisters because my mom was working and only gets home after 7 because she needs to wait for taxis etc gave me a "slight" advantage. Also being able to get home and open the fridge to grab a snack before doing my homework probably also made doing it easier than having to try and work with a grumbling stomach. When mom eventually gets home the child in the shack then has to study by candle light.

There are of course differing degrees of a difficult upbringing but I seriously do not think there is one white person on here who can even dare compare the way they lived to the way a lot of others do in this country!
 
Walk a week in someone else's shoes and then come back and lecture us all. You are all again tarring all black people with the same brush.

It is sometimes obvious to me why Malema gets the support he does! Fsk if I was living in a shack, I'd take any one of your terrible ways of life any day of the week!

There are a lot more complications to living in poverty than just a roof over your head.

In very rural areas I imagine it would be a lot more difficult, but not impossible with determination. But this squatter camps in big cities have (free) electricity, are close to running water... it is a lot easier to get an education than in rural areas.
