What would you have done ?

Was it obvious that u guys were a couple? If not, u can't blame the guy for smiling at a pretty girl :)
 
Over aggressive morons like that are a problem.

Nothing wrong with smiling at someone. Might come across as a little creepy at times but it's no big deal. I've had random girls smile at me, never thought anything of it.

No there's no reason for you to do anything and he's just one of those over-aggro jerks that's more likely to be dumped by his girlfriend than you are. I had many girls and guys smile at me especially waiters. Doesn't mean they wanted to jump my bone.
 
Your Sister is in for a rough ride with a guy like that. Keep an eye on your Sis.

It's a compliment. Guys think your girl is hot. ;) Tell the Neanderthal that.
 
There are definitely times when stepping up and letting another guy know that the lady is with you is appropriate but this was not one of those times. Smiling at another guys gf while ignoring him is a bit disrespectful, but even if it was meant as such, there was nothing you could do that wouldn't make you look like a douche. Nothing except laugh, which you did so don't feel bad.

Actually, I would have gone out of my way to make eye contact with him and give him a big friendly smile.
 
@OP, probably nothing. Is it really worth raising hell over the sob? I think you did the right thing to walk away.

After that we drove back to JHB and her sister came over with her boyfriend. We told them about the waiter and immediately the sister's boyfriend asked me what did I do when the waiter smiled at my girlfriend. We both said we just laughed about it. The boyfriend then told me that he would not have laughed about it and he would have done something about it. After he said that, I feel kind of pissed off at myself for not doing something about the waiter.

So, what would you have done or could I have done ?

My wife would have flirted with the waiter so much he would have avoided our table at all costs and I would be pissing myself :D
 
It's a Spur, and a fake smile.

Waiters see 100's of hot woman every month, and smile at all of them, even the fat chicks.
Not gingers though, that's more of a giggle smile.
 
At a restaurant always keep your cool with regards to your woman,cause these waiters can do things to your salad that you won't want to know about.
 
At the spur here our waiter did a suggestive dance at our table to country music...I almost gave him a snot klap for pulling moves on my chick... then i noticed all the waiters were doing it.

And your girlfriends sisters boyfriend is probably just a big month ****er who would do bugger all... the loud mouths are usually just that.

If someone smiles and my girlfriend I laugh inside and think Hahaha...**** you...she's mine :p
 
IMO it shouldn't even be the guy who has to let someone know that the girl is with him. If some chap is flirting with a girl then if that girl is with someone else then she should tell the guy that.
