Is it just me or has gmail gone flakey in the last month or so?
I think it was ever since that big outage, it has just not been the same since then. I keep getting load timeouts, general unresponsiveness, warnings about features not having been loaded, suggestions about rather trying plain HTML version, ... In short, it's become a real pain to work with.

And I use it from work & home, no difference (so it's not my line/connectivity). Maybe it's something in my browser? I've been using FF3, but will now try IE7 also to see if it's any better.. just thought I'd put the question out there and see if anybody else is also struggling with gmail.

Thanks guys for the tip to go https - didn't even know there was such an option.

I think I nailed my problems though after noticing that it worked a lot better in IE7 - I remembered that a couple of months ago I implemented some tips on a site to optimise FF network config settings. I revisited the site and now see in the comments some warnings about the settings interfering with gmail ... duh.

I've now reset all the about:config network settings and feeling that gmail luurrvvv again :)

Man, to think I nearly went back to using Outlook again

Note to self: read the comments.
Further note to self: faster is not always better.
