WhatsApp voice calling now open

Activated over 400 people between yesterday and today. Everyone at the office is now activated and making use of WhatsApp to call coworkers..

The boss is super exited with this feature which means big saving for our company. .

I think networks are already filling the pinch. I was on a call to Europe for over 2 hours.. voice quality is impressive

the new version is the official 561 version....

I updated to it yesterday.

andriod or not?

currently only android devices activate.
after getting the call yourself, click on a WA message, there should be a phone in the top info bar.

Correct android version 2-11-561 Somebody closed the window before I entered. Hopefully they will open the door soon enough
 
Vodacom and MTN are probably already crying crocodile tears and concocting ways to screw over their customers.

Who's going to pay their ridiculous call rates now?
 
Both parties have to pay for calls now. If the person you are trying to call doesn't have data/airtime/credit available, the call won't work.
 
Without me opening up multiple threads and looking for the answer, is whatsapp still doing the invite thing? I have 3 peoples numbers I need to activate but other posters are saying the activation is not working.
 
I haven't been able to activate people since last night.

I see my WA have been updated to version 2.12.5.
Not sure if that had an impact, but I think that update occurred sometime this morning.

Is it the 561 update?
 
hmmmm I wonder if people think the update is the 561 update so think they can be activated but its not the 561?

The last two guys I tried were apparently on 561 and I also was on 561 last night, when activation failed. I specifically checked mine.

Obviously I can't vouch for the guy on the other end.

The first time they opened it was around mid feb where it was open for a couple of hours.
Next window was on 6th March and closed the next day.
On 11th march they open the window again and seemed like it closed last night. This was actually the longest time the activation window was open.

The may open the activation window at a later stage or maybe even roll it out to everyone once they iron out the bugs/improve the service.
 
I was on 561 when I received a call this morning. WA didn't activate. Thank goodness it's only a closed activation window, I thought I was being brain dead again
