When does Cybersmart's new pricing kick in?

Hi All

I have been reading a bit on the price changes for Cybersmart customers. Does anyone know when these will come into effect? From an article on MyBB, apparently the inclusive 384k 3 gig for 258(259) will become 4 gig? Or something along these lines...

Does anyone have any more specifics, or a time / date / year that we'll see this happen? Or have I got it wrong?

Cybersmart put their new link to Seacom on hold, but I don't understand why they cannot pass on their savings to us yet.

As I understand it the link between Cape Town and Muzuni is useless, so they are using SAT3 for now.

When Seacom entered the market they claimed huge savings (up to 90% was thrown around) but Telkom hit back saying they already lowered their SAT3 prices.

So, Cybersmart cannot bring us better prices while they wait for Seacom, yet SAT3 prices have come down?

Perhaps Cybersmart would care to set the record straight. Where are the savings?

If they don't do it soon, they could be lambasted for wrongful advertising. The predicted savings were one of the reasons many people decided to join Cybersmart. They said (via email and several phone calls to their staff) that it would be implementedi n October.

It should be soon, I reckon.

Just because you see something on their dev server, does not make it fact.

Cybersmart’s 3 GB data bundle prices will remain unchanged at R 125, R 185 and R 225 for usage on a 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps and 4 Mbps DSL line respectively. The ISP will however provide better value for money on its one-price ADSL offerings.

When the new pricing kicks in a 384 Kbps DSL circuit (ADSL Access) and 2 GB of data will cost R 175.00, significantly cheaper than Telkom’s R 199.00 for a DSL 384 circuit and a 1 GB data bundle. The same service with a 4 GB data cap will cost R 258.00 per month, the same price as Telkom’s 2 GB service.

From this it would seem that my one-price 3Gig 384line for R259 per month will be more expensive than the new 4gig 384 one-price. Will cybersmart give me 4 gigs at the same price, give me 4 gig at the R1 lower price, or reduce my 3gig bundle's price?

And most importantly, when???

While this pricing has not been made official yet, Cybersmart CEO Laurie Failkov said that it will be ‘the same or better’ when it is formally launched. The main reason for the new pricing is cheaper international bandwidth on SEACOM, and Failkov said that the new prices will only be officially launched a month after their SEACOM capacity goes live.

I believe they'll automatically upgrade their current packages.

I'm paying R300 for 5.26 gigs of international cap (grow for life 669mb) + 384k line + 3gigs local, not bad eh? ...seems they have added 2gigs to my account instead of the previous 1gig that they were supposed to.
