The nice thing about a Hybrid is it is generally best of both worlds.

Petrol (gas) engine for the bulk of your mileage & a small electric motor for limited EV range. If your daily commute falls in that EV range you can effectively drive “for free”. Small battery means it charges relatively quickly. If you choose not to charge or it gets depleted it’s just a normal ICE vehicle.

There are other big benefits in the 1st world countries like less emissions = big tax breaks in SA sadly not.

Normal hybrids like the Toyota Corolla (and Cross) don’t need to be plugged in. They have small batteries and recharge themselves using regenerative braking, and the upside is that the small electric motor delivers a nice torque boost during acceleration AND cuts fuel consumption dramatically in stop-and-go urban traffic (but is not that great on long highway cruises where the benefit isn’t felt). Generally they’re a fair bit more expensive than the standard fuel variants, so you don’t actually save money on them because the cost saving goes into the purchase price.

The more expensive hybrid systems are Plug-In Hybrids, also known as PHEVs. You don’t get any of those for R350000.

Yeah that was just an example lol. "1 old lady owner - only driven to church and to school" etc is a huge red flag.

Small chance that it could be true but you need to go visit the previous owner etc.

Underpowered though, dont know what you mean by goes well, That engine is lazy, lethargic, asthmatic, depressing.... Dont know how else to describe it at this point but it is a horrible horrible outdated engine. But it is at least reliable.

the fronx 0-60 km/h: 4.37 sec 0-100 km/h: 9.56 sec. That is not bad for a N.A. car

the Hyundai velster turbo 7.8 sec
even the vw golf fsi was only 8.9 sec

You dont get it. How many gears do you have to drop just to go up any slight incline in a fronx?
