I was on the AC Ryan site and I see nothing about this new product??
 
If anybody is still looking Intel have recently launched the CE4100 Atom based media player chipset which is supposedly significantly more powerful than any of the current Realtek processors. A number of major hardware and software companies such as Sony, Google, Acer, D-Link/Boxee etc. are developing products around this new chipset. The D-Link Boxee Box ($199) is the first media type device to appear but many others should become available in 2011 ...

Just placed an order for the AC Ryan Essential at Esquire Midrand. Not sure if I'm allowed to state the price here though. . .

sorry if I am a bit slow but as you can see I only joined this year :D

currently pondering a 2nd media player as my current WD is being swapped around and so when I want to watch something, some1 else is usually busy with it
so then can give opinion on that one as well for future buyers

well what little opinion I can give since I am no reviewer of note

I'm looking forward to trying it out this weekend - it's my first media player :o (besides the PS3 & built in Samsung tv media player).

Hmmm... now you're making me second-guess my hasty purchase :p
I was initially leaning towards a mede8er myself but trying to justify the price difference and the resulting hesitance to get one was getting old. Decided I'll just get a media player now that suits my needs to start off with.

I'll post a 'review' on Monday :)

I hope you saw that you actually paid R 599.00 excl vat and not R 699excl vat and just to let you know that you actually the first person in the country to own the AC Ryan Essential unit so please let us have your feedback on the unit.
we will doing some nice deals next week on media players
 
@martymarts.If the player could talk she would say you're my first(in the county) so be gentle with me and at that price you scored big time.

Is this the normal price or was this a special for MartyMarts because if so you will have another sale.
 
damn thats cheap!

I played with the acryan, and although not as polished UI as the Mede8er, it works really well. Mede8er also released similar units but not sure if its available at esquire as yet...

what will the regular price be? And DARN, whens CT going to be offering the essential ACRyan on special? When will Mede8er 400 and 200 units be arriving at esquire?

Just thought I'd add that the latest Mede8er beta firmware plays compressed header MKVs. Those are the ones Gnome was talking about, right?
