Hi Guys,

So we have been throttled on MWEB as we have reached our 110GB "Cap" even though we are on uncapped. We have a 4mbps uncapped setup.

I am now looking to change ISP so that I can get my proper speeds back as its really unacceptable the slow speeds. Could anyone please advise me on which ISP would be best as I am done with MWEB. We are changing over to Web Africa in January to a fibre 100mbps line but in the mean time I need to get my 4mbps speed back asap.

Please advise me on which ISP to go with and the package which you recommend. I will only be on "this" new ISP until the end of Jan when I move over to fibre.

Edit: I will need to cancel the ADSL with the provider once I upgrade to fibre so I can't be tied to a contract...

Kind Regards and have a good holiday!

Cheers

Why not try VOX? You can get a capped package, and then bolt on a package that gives you uncapped and unshapped data from 6pm -6am and on weekends. Works out cheaper if you're not home most the day.

Sign up for a cheap uncapped afrihost account and cancel straight away (before the 25th, will run until the end of the month) and only pay pro-rata for the rest of the month.

Afrihost capped would also work, 100 gigs for R199 and unlimited midnight to 6am data or what wingnut said.

If you download at night then ghost's idea is better as the cheap uncapped doesn't have zero rated data between midnight and 6am.

Only issue is I think you'll get prorata of 100GB data too AFAIK.

Just upgrade to 4Meg Premium. Then you get 400GBs.

Or even use the 6Meg Standard account on your 4Meg line. That's 150GBs.

You only have 2 options really: Crystal Web or Vox.

Didn't Vox have serious connection issues on a few occasions recently? Crystal Web is the best ISP in the country imo, and has the best support by far. It's also the only ISP I've ever had where it makes no difference if you don't reboot your router periodically.

I'm leaving them end of the month for Afrihost, and very reluctantly. But I need the monthly savings to get a 100Mbps connection.

Afrihost has improved with their new network.

Haven't tried Crystalweb, but hearing all the good things about them in general, the next connection I setup, I'll give them a go.

I concur

Hence ghost and I's advice.

Didn't recommend 400GB Mweb due to the fact that you said you were going fiber come month end and couldn't in good conscience recommend an ISP with a calendar month notice.

Out of interest, how has the performance been for you? Much better on the new network?

The new network has been a dream. Never see that sloth anymore :D

Plus streaming and gaming works perfectly. I would say that it's one of the best ADSL accounts that I've used, and it's cheap +
