That pic was taken at 20:00 and they stop pouring at 21:00. Hopefully there's some left for a remedial lesson.

I would like to try the Loch Lomond, Glen Scotria and the Private Barrel. Which should I start with keeping in mind I dont enjoy something like (flame suit on) Laphroaig at all?

I enjoy whiskey like Highland Park, Singleton, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich etc

For those in the Bryanston area, I see Riverside liquors is offering the Tamdhu and Kavalan for tasting at the store between 12 and 3. I'm quite a fan of the Tamdhu and you get a chance to taste a Taiwanese whisky. Slainte

I got a bottle of Lagavulin 16 recently. I didn't no whisky could taste so good. It's got a that heavy smokey peat flavour, but goes down extremely smooth. I always thought I liked whisky (I do not drink any other spirits), and was fine with just drinking Jameson. But now my friend had to bring me this stuff...

How do you guys afford to keep drinking nice single malt whiskys? I finished half the bottle last week and it got me researching some other whiskys. I now have two bottles of ardbeg coming my way. But it's like R3500 including shipping and probably will not last all that long. Do you have a monthly whisky budget?

It's a cold, wet and miserable day in CT. Think I will stop at makro on the way home and see what they have that looks tasty.

The key is not to drink it like you would drink a bottle of wine ;)

What you do is buy the 'cheap' stuff for everyday drinking and keep the expensive stuff for weekends/special occasions. For example, PnP has the Monkey Shoulder & Jameson Caskmates on special at R299, and they are really nice to drink as an everyday drink.

Also, buy a couple of bottles every time there's a Makro/Pnp/Checkers special and soon you will have a nice collection.

After the second or third pour your taste buds are fairly overwhelmed so switch over to a cheaper drink. I'd rather drink a little of the good stuff than a lot of the cheap stuff.

So I'm on my last bottle of the old Black Bottle blend.. :( Are there any similar priced peated blends out there?
