I was at Bottega in Parkhurst for dinner last Thursday.
When you said last week I assumed you tasted them at Wade Bales.
I'll try them the next time I'm at Bottega.

I'll do so..... Thank you for the pointer. Very new to drinking whisky neat and still deciding on what i like. What i don't like is peat.Try the Buffalo Trace, almost half the price and better than the Makers 46, IMHO.
Me too. I have tried and tried and tried but anything even mildly peaty I skip.I'll do so..... Thank you for the pointer. Very new to drinking whisky neat and still deciding on what i like. What i don't like is peat.
That's exactly what I thought. I might pick up a bottle of each.
Also 3 Ships 5 price is not too bad (considering it's approaching R200 at most places these days).

More peat for the peatheads![]()
#peat is life lol

That's where Highland varieties shine, IMO. The occasional Ardbeg is lovely, but I just drool over the "juicier", sweeter alternatives
I'm going to an Octomore tasting tonight![]()
Lucky guy. Who's hosting it? Are the 9s being featured?
From the marketing blurb:
An evening of Scotch single malts from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay, presented by South African brand ambassador, Caitlin Hill. Bruichladdich produce three different types of spirits, including the peated Port Charlotte, and the ridiculously peated Octomore.
Whiskies:
Bruichladdich Classic Laddie
Port Charlotte Scottish Barley
Octomore 7.1
Octomore 8.1
TBC (Something exciting!)
