If Three Ships isn't your thing, sure.
I'm 100% a Three Ships fanboy and consider the Master's Collection to be ridiculously good value. Consider that the releases have been at most 4000 bottles (Pinotage) and are 'finished' for years in good quality casks. Consider that most distilleries even small ones like Kilchoman and Springbank have special releases that are roughly 5000 - 12000 bottles and these are usually premium priced (oddly Springbank is very good with their pricing but they're also harder and harder to get). They aren't mass-produced like any of those you named and are currently one-off releases. They are also bottled at a fairly decent strength usually above 46%. Also, have to consider that due to our climate the whisky 'ages' a bit quicker. Additionally, I'd say there's something more interesting especially with the Fino master's collection, it's a great example of Grain treated properly and not just as filler. With the most recent release yesterday we're getting single malt in a red wine cask finish for 3 years, that's just phenomenal.
Funnily I used to complain about the price of the 10yo and still think there should be a standard release at the R399 price point to compete with Glenfiddich 12. But for me, none of the above measure up to the current 10yo Three Ships and the 9yo Fino Master's Collection is in the same league as Lagavulin 16 for me, which is to say I have nothing against mass-produced whisky...I just think it's clear Three Ships is delivering exceptional stuff.
