Who else got their TSW Shiraz ?

Bottle 62. I tried to grab number 9, my lucky number and selected it first, but as I waited for it to appear I realised in a split second that I never double clicked and someone else took it.

I quite enjoy this, I have a bottle to open when we are away next week, and I saw these at Liquor City in Craighall Park earlier for R299/each so grabbed them to try...

Having loved the Peated expression. I decided to pick up the Chardonnay, one of the best whiskies out there in my opinion. Possibly the best whisky available for the money. Not sure how it's ended up under the radar (well I've been meaning to get it for a long time now).

Which Liquor City did you get from?

Was driving around, ended up in Kuils River. They only had the Chardonnay, Port, Classic and 12 year old. Think Liquor City Oasis in Brackenfell probably has too.

Edit: Don't even bother with Liquor City's Click and Collect, I tried to use it to get the Evan Williams Single Barrel picked up at the Oasis branch, well it's been a week now and I already bought it from Liquor City Claremont and passed it in Liquor City Kuilsriver. I almost went into Oasis but if I'd found it in stock there I might have been even more perturbed.

That is good to hear, I look forward to trying it, and the others that I have that I still have not opened due to my minor hoarding tendencies

I Have a friend coming for dinner and would like to serve them 3 ships whiskey rather then something imported.
I'm looking to spend around 500 bucks for a bottle.
Any advice or suggestions
If I go imported I'm looking at suntory toki or tamnavulin both are around 400 unless I can get crabbie but haven't checked availability yet.

Makro should have the gift set for R469 for the 10yo. With the newest packaging, you also get 2 distillery tour tickets ;D!

Or, do Three Ships 5 and Bains. Some places may still have the Bourbon cask which is also pretty good.

If you go to just under R700 you can grab the 9yo Fino cask off takealot ;D!

I've noticed Crabbie made it to a few Tops stores. Those are all decent but also consider Glen Moray range ;D.

If I spend that much I would prefer Ardbeg, Laphroaig, or pay more for Talisker.

I have had the Glen Moray peated and really enjoyed it, It's my go-to work draw bottle as there is a liquor city near my work.
I tasted the chardonnay cask and would rather vat69 or paint thinners but that's just my taste.

I'll look at tops for crabbie

Most whiskies in ex-white wine casks will have a "taste". Usually leaning toward sour, in my experience. Also not the biggest fan.

IMO there is nothing else out there (that I have tasted) at R300 that can beat this.
Will get more as soon as I can.

Our local Liquor City in Craighall Park has a range of Glen Moray in stock and selling for R299, I am not sure where you live though.

Strange everyone says R299, but Liquor City Claremont is R339. They had the Peated, Sherry, Chardonnay, Classic and I think they might of even had the Cabernet, but I was in a hurry and my mind is not so good anymore

PS, and the 12yo
