Who here has an etag?

Used E-Roads when I was visiting Parents In December...Still waiting for the Bill *no E-tag, Cape resident*

I drove from Woodmead to Irene yesterday at 5:30. On the Old Pretoria road - and it was a nightmare. Not because people are avoiding the tolls but because the road was designed by a 5 year old, traffic lights don't work, and because we're not allowed to shoot taxi drivers in the face.

For someone who is just "considering to get one" you seem to already know quite a lot about it House, I mean Necropolis.

I will not be getting an etag. Will not trust any government *****hole to have access to my bank details where they can take money as and when they want.

Why would you give them your bank details?
 
Yes, I have one. And no, no government has access to my bank account... I just pay as and when I get an invoice. And get my discount as a result.

So you boys who are like 'I'm never going to get an E-tag, they can drag me to jail if they like!'... well enjoy...

You realise you only get your "etag" rate if you prepay, or pay within 7 days, right? Otherwise you pay the VLN rate. And you still accepted their illegal terms and conditions.

Enjoy the violation.
 
I love the way the sheep are so smug about their little discount, I wonder if they'll be so smug when they suddenly find that they're paying R2k a month because all the highways will be e-tolled

Ya, they won't be smug once they take the cap away and raise the price.

My plan is still the most affordable, not giving them a cent.

I love the way the 'brekers' are 'like I won't pay that f..ing etoll huh, no ways man *grunt snort*' at every braai... then they quietly sneak off and get e-tags... oh ja, and then don't even bother to vote...

This statement worries me a bit. Are you aware of the reasons behind the anti e-toll sentiment? And why giving in and paying any money whatsoever is without a doubt the wrong thing to do?

Being dragged to jail and getting a criminal record is not something anyone looks forward to yet there are those of us with the balls to threaten it for a much better cause. The only thing that will lead to failure and ultimate extortion are those who give in. And it is sad that they and everyone else will live with that for the rest of their lives in SA.

Why are those who are faced with a R2000-00 bill now even thinking of paying a cent? It shouldn't be a question. I don't have a tag, I have gone through many gantries, I don't even care in the least what bill I get. It's quite simple. R2000 or R1, the answer is NO!

just FYI, I vote and will continue to do so, I contribute funds to OUTA and will continue to do so, I have participated in the public hearings, I have been actively involved in a drive slow protest and will participate in others should they be held, I have a "proudly e-tag free" sticker on my car, I regularly engage on social media regarding the evils of SCAMRAL and e-tagging and will continue to do so. I do not have and will not get an e-tag because I refuse to collude in government corruption

Funny thing is the number plate belongs to my old vehicle, which was sold and removed from my name over 6 months ago, confirmed that it is not on my name with the traffic department.

And the funniest thing about this is I live in Cape Town and have not been to Jozi in about two years.

Now the VPC department will not issue me with the photos, they say the procedure is for me to register online then view the photos, then I must fill in a dispute form and send it to them.

There should be a nice wys of doing this. I'm still waif for somebody to use the freedom if information act instead of following the onerous dispute process
