You can compare any two cities if you like. It still doesn't disprove the point that the city was better before. By saying it's better than JHB or Durban, and therefor must be well run, is not necessarily a valid argument. Cape Town has always been different to other cities by virtue of its history.

Hi Sackboy, this sound interesting. Can you please elaborate on how Cape Town got worse?

I have been living in Cape Town for only 2 and a half years now so I cannot judge if it is better or worse.
 
I wonder how many black people that will vote ANC actually reads this forum. I seriously think that most black people are brainwashed into voting for the ANC. Because realistically and objectivelly speaking the ANC are last party a computer programme based on logical routines in the context of a modern Southern African dynamic will ever vote for them.

Even entertaining the idea that Cape Town has become worse is ludicrous and downright insane.

As I've said before. Love or Hate Helen or the DA, Cape Town is being run 900% better. This is fact. Not an opinion.

capetownguy, I want Sacboys reason. It is very possible that his experience has declined over the past few years.

What I want to see is if it is because of the fact that moral values and crime in this country is causing it to go down the tubes, or if it is problems that can be directly contributed to the DA.

General municipal services were far better before. They used to sweep streets more than once or twice a year, street lights were repaired more efficiently, we had less potholes, roads were painted, street signs were replaced etc.. The council actually answered their phones, even on a Friday afternoon!

This council are contracting a lot of the work out and they aren't keeping an eye on what these cowboys are doing.

As it is, the rates have increased since they are directly linked to the market value of houses. However, they don't seem to want to know how much water/electricity is used because these guys come very rarely. We even rang up to give them a reading (as you can do in Europe), but they wouldn't accept it because it was "too soon".

Law enforcement is a JOKE. They must be the most inept bunch of buffoons this side of the ocean. The mayor has direct control over these people, which indicates very poor management.

We're also told that the money the City gets goes directly into the townships, probably in an effort to buy some votes. It doesn't matter whether the City claims that they "are running it better". What matters is what we see on the ground, whether that means less corruption, more accountability or otherwise.

As far as I know... the city only controls the metro police... and she sorted them out Big-Time... do not presume... use facts :eek:

I don't think those metro cops will ever pull a stunt like that again... do you ?

Do you think the Metro police suddenly improved, got off their fat areses and started enforcing traffic regulations, noise laws etc.. har har har

CT is my choice destination for holidays... All I can say is that is is definatley better every time I go
 
As I said. Its fact, I will not entertain ludicrous statements.
I will not be debating the colour of the sky or the colour of grass.

Theres the usual suckyboy rubbish and then there is denial and madness.

CT under the DA has been run 900% better. Grass is green. The sky on a clear day is blue.
 
There is also a failure to understand the state of the city, not just the services but the administrative and structural mess left behind when the DA took over.
No sense of order, corruption etc.

Just sorting out that is an achievement in itself.

So the ANC left it in a mess. Did you think they would hand it to the DA on a plate?

Pity the doff people who took over were stumped because they must still be trying to work out the controls.:rolleyes:
