And I love the hardware buttons because it doesn't take up screen space
Ahh - but it does, permanently. Without that button there they can increase the screen size, making it available when that button serves no purpose. Not so with a physical button.

So there really is no clear "winner" ?

Before Android 5, IOS was ahead in terms of looks and performance. After Android 5.0 that changed, it's lot smoother and there isn't much in it.

In terms of apps, the IOS apps usually have a sleeker feel to them. In Android it's very easy to slap a crappy looking app together if you don't understand the layouts. With material design the Android apps are looking better.

So for me overall, Android is a better OS in terms of functionality. You can schedule stuff (like turn off wifi when you connect to your car bluetooth) and can set default apps for things like music. I use Google Play music and it frustrates me to no end that I have to open the app all the time in my car since the default is set to the built in App. You can also root it and do what you want to do the phone.
Having to wait for an IOS jailbreak all the time, and normally being a few releases of IOS behind is crap.

When it comes to apps, IOS apps generally has a higher polish to it.

So, each one has its good and bad, and people that proclaim the one is vastly superior to the other are best ignored.

Unbiased responses for the win :D

Definitely agree with both whatwhat & FiestaST.

For what it's worth, iOS for me. No hatred towards Android :)

Anyone here test out the BlackBerry fruit phone running Android? Besides myself...it's stupidly priced...beyond stupid.

I have one. Very nice so far; the major downsides are related to Android itself and an OS (which is clumsier and worse integrated than BB10 in most respects), but the app functionality is decent.

The Vodacom pricing is ridiculous, so I ported to a reasonably priced MTN package.

Have to agree on the apps. There are good Android apps, but by and large, the iOS apps are more polished. Heck, the better BlackBerry 10 apps are better too. Big selection though.

As an OS, iOS is more of an app launcher than an integrated operating system.

Watching this vid one fails to understand how a 2015 6s with 2gb of RAM is just better at multitasking than a 2016 S7 edge with 4gb of RAM.

iOS efficiency & maybe some better optimization needed for TouchWiz
Except the iPhone doesn't do true multitasking. It just suspends apps. I want all my apps to continue running and let the memory subsystem deal with RAM.

What's the advantages/disadvantages of either system? The Apple method sounds good in theory since it uses less resources but what's the real world downside? What can the Android method do with the extra resources it uses that the Apple method can't?

Most android apps functionality also doesn't continue when it loses focus. I tried to play YouTube videos and read at the same time. The moment you switch over to the books the music stopped. Only app I used that I know kept going was utorrent for downloading all the roms I wanted to flash.

It's both Google so why go apple icloud Google if I can just go android straight

Lol because Google doesn't allow it and the same reason they don't include an ad blocker. If you're in the US you can pay for Youtube Red or use this xposed module http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.pyler.youtubebackgroundplayback
